Cat with wound

Hello cat experts out there.

Earlier today there was a lot of noise and stuff at the cat flap and one of our cats came in with a massive fluffed up tail.

The other was outside facing off a black and white cat. It looked quite young, not thin or ill except it had a wound on its neck where a collar might have been.also a bit scabby around the nose.

It stayed on the wall for a long time looking at me. Is it in need of help? If it belongs to someone wouldn't they be dealing with the open cut on the poor thing's neck?

We had a cat like that, it had been abandoned.

It might have had a collar on that had been put on as a kitten and when they grow it strangles them & cuts into the flesh.

Feed it & give it water. It will at least give you an opportunity to gain its trust.

I'd try and get close to it to see what it's general health is like. It may just have been fighting and been injured recently or it may be a stray.

If it comes back I will try and get closer and see if it's hungry/thirsty.

If it is, should I catch it and take to the vet?

I can't adopt it as l already have 2 cats but I can't see it suffer.
