I've just come back from a morning walk in the woods near me (great morning isn't it?) and to my surprise coming along the path in the opposite direction was my ginger cat! I said "hello Scabbers what are you doing here?" (Then prayed nobody was around to hear that) and he absolutely bolted like he'd never seen me before in his life.
I mean, I wasn't exactly expecting a full lowdown of the morning's activities, but still!
Maybe he was pissed off I've discovered his roaming area!

Ours used to do this, they run off like you're a cat napper they've evaded before.

Makes it all worthwhile when your cats high-tailing it down the road away from you.

It's a good job they can't talk, they'd shout "stranger danger" as they ran.

Haha!
He's now been in and rubbed against my legs which I assume was an apology Grin

god they can be can't they.

my boy took over a year to stop running away from me in our own garden when he'd just seen me seconds before in the house.
He is a big fat wuss.
don't wear a hat or a new coat and expect him to recognise you in the garden ever again.Grin

They're almost different personalities outside - at least the ones I've known. You usually get a sort of 'Go Away, I'm doing my job' attitude. It's a bit disquieting until you realize they return to normal when they come in the back door.

I suppose instinct tells them that they have different considerations when they're out - enemies, potential prey etc - and that only when they're back in the home can they relax properly.

Cozie that's so true. My boy is the clingiest wusspuss around indoors, but if I go near him outside he gets a definite NOT IN FRONT OF MY MATES vibe Grin
