Stray cat spraying

Can anyone offer me a solution to a stray cat coming into my flat and spraying everywhere? I have a cat flap which two of my cats use and through which he comes. I can block it at night time but he still comes in in the day. We came in the other day and he was asleep on the lounge next to one of my cats! Unfortunately my cat flap doesn't lock and I can't afford to replace it at the moment. Also what is best to clean it and get rid of the smell? (Not that I can ever see where he does it.)

The obvious answer is to get a Sureflap that recognises your cats from their microchip and only lets them in.

What I personally would do is also to catch/trap him and get him neutered - better for him, better for the neighbourhood. I realise that's probably asking rather a lot though.

Yes I had considered both of those options but we don't have the spare money at the moment. Do you think ringing Cats Protection would help or would they not do anything?

Yes they should be able lend you a trap and find a voucher for the castration. CPL is run by a large number of local volunteers though, so some areas are better than others, but certainly try them.
