The litter tray

taken in an adult cat - toilet issues

We have adopted an adult female cat. She is 7 and litter trained. Picked her up on Friday and for 2 days she used the litter tray for everything.

For the last 2 days she has been using the sofa in the conservatory as a toilet.

Don't know what is going on here.

This morning I moved the litter tray on to where she has been going but she has wee-ed all around it but not in it.

it's a covered litter tray - I have taken the lid off and put some of the paper she wee-ed on in it so I will see how that goes.

the litter tray has been used by our other cat (who recently died) but she has been using it so could that be the problem?

any ideas gratefully received

Is it the same type of litter as she's used to? Ours won't use certain types of litter.
