Does your cat actually sleep in their bed?

I find it strange that my cat was tucked up in her proper cat bed to day for about 4 hours when she could have slept anywhere in the house.

it's a bit weird.

one of mine, Reuben, likes a particular basket and even if you move it about the house he will seek it out. He sleeps in it almost all night, most nights. Unless of course it is bathroom mat night, when he sprawls upside down on the bathroom mat, or if anyone gets up then he escorts them back to bed and tends to stay.

The others just sleep anywhere. Oscar mostly sleeps on my bed, Faerie like to sleep on the back of the sofa or chairs.

Yes my girl does a lot. It's one of those hooded ones - I think she feels safe in there. She does sleep ii other places as well though.

The Siamese boys have always slept in a human bed. The rest - wherever they fancy, really. I would never bother to buy a cat bed.

Ours used too when we got her from the shelter as we were given the bed she had there so guess she felt safe in it. She hasnt slept in it for ages tho guess she really feels at home now Smile

That's my experience too cozie, I don't think we had even one cat bed for the 8 cats we had when I was a kid.

We have one because we shut the cat in the kitchen at night and the floor in there is a freezing quarry tile jobby and that would just be cruel.

This little cat loves it though it's just a basic plastic one with a bit of vet bed in it. Hmm

Im not convinced my cat has ever slept in her bed, various "spots" on sofas, my bed, spare bed, cushions near to a radiator.

I wouldnt mind but her bed is super fluffy, warm and near a heat source.

My cat used to sleep on the sheepskin one that hung over the radiator. But he got so big there was a danger he would take the radiator off the wall!
I have tried buying other beds but he never pays them the slightest attention. Prefers a double bed!

My cat is currently curled up on a magazine. She has today been on the top bunk in dsds room, my bed and the top of the stairs. I'm not even sure where her actual basket is any more!

I've never bought a cat bed. That's what our bed is for. Cats are called furry hot water bottles for a reason Grin

Mine's curled up in hers at the moment. It's a lovely, snuggly fleecy round thing.
She only sleeps in it during the evening, all other times she sleeps on the DC's beds including the top bunk.

I bought mine a medium sized dog bed, he loves it. If he wants it on our bed he sits at the top of the stairs yelling until we take it up.

We bought a big plastic dog bed for my childhood cats, they wouldn't go near it. It sat under the stairs for years before we finally tipped it Hmm

Mine sleeps on the sky box which I think she believes we have provided as a warm bed. I worry it will blow up and there will be no TV to entertain the kids and she could be hurt

I bought one for our cat when we first had him but he never used it so we binned it.

At Christmas this year we got the stockings out and I put them in a big African basket briefly, deciding where to put them before they were hung on DCs doors. Next thing I know, he's sleeping in it! Usually, he sleeps on any of the beds, any of the chairs, very occasionally the sofas, and most often the hotspots on the floor as we have underfloor heating.

Mine sleeps all day and most of the night on her sheepskin bed that hooks to the radiator. Then at about 2 am she comes and sleeps under the duvet between my legs. Then at 5 am she wakes up, stretches and tells me it is time for her to go outside.

Loudly.

discarded warm clothing on a bed is a favourite :D

The cat bed was ignored by the older two for years. Youngest came along and instantly decided it was where he slept, so now it's his. There's something very cute about a cat in an actual cat bed.

The other cat sleeps in strange places. On top of the dresser. Inside the shower stall. When DH removed the cover of the hard drive for something or other, she slept in that and shorted out my computer.

we bought a bed but the cat has never used it. he goes in the kitchen at night and would rather sleep on the kitchen table than in his nice cosy bed.

She never used too but when we moved to this house we kept her in the kitchen at night. She doesn't like very comfy squashy surfaces so we took the padded base out and put in a bit of carpet and her favourite tea towel (don't ask), she sleeps in it every night now

One of my cats likes his sheepskin radiator bed, he practically lives there in the winter. The other cat thinks he is more superior and sleeps on our king sized bed, right in the middle where he can stretch out.

Only when they are trying to avoid the child. Weirdly they often sleep on his bed

Report

Most of the time he sleeps either in his bed or the dogs bed - depends where the dog is, he doesn't seem to have a preference of which bed it is (nor does the dog).
He occasionally sleeps on our bed in the afternoon, or the top of the laundry basket in the bathroom.

Mine prefer my bed - or when I'm in it mostly on my pillow above my head. I can often feel them kneading my hair with paws. Grin
