Is there a nice cat bed that can be washed & tumble dried?

I really need one I can tumble dry regularly, I have looked in a lot of pet shops & online.

Can anyone recommend one please?

Do you need one with a hood etc? Otherwise, I'd be looking at a couple of modestly priced fleece throws (one and a spare) which can be semi folded and placed in a nice cardboard box to minimize draughts.

I don't really mind, I find it hard to hoover the one I have now,

I tried a small plastic dog bed for her last week (so its wipe clean) with a cushion inside & in the morning the cushion was soaked, as it had 'sweated' on the plastic.

Might go for the box & blanket, that sounds easier.

I'd give it a try, I think. Fleece throws can be bought really cheaply (try the local shopping centre or market - or online) and they wash and tumble a treat. (Thereby removing hairs.) Cats love them as well because they're so cosy.

Im annoyed Ive just thrown 2 dressing gowns away this week. They could have been cut up!

Don't worry - check with friends and family to see if they've got any fleece dressing gowns they don't use. Fleece jackets are also fine - I've used the lot. You just need to fold the latter so that any zippers are underneath and aren't going to stick in the cat's ribs. (Not that they seem to notice those anyway.)

I use a dog bed but no tray. Shoved it on top of a cupboard. They love it.

My dressing gown also gets dough punched and kneaded regularly so I can imagine that would make a popular bed. When I'm on mat leave I am going to cut the duvet up and make it into several beds as I reckon that would wash well.

Probably better to try and use things which don't need cutting up. The process of laundering and drying can extract stuffing and cut-edge threads from the most sturdy-looking of items. Putting something in the machines whole is a safer bet even if it does have zips or is a little too big.

(Unless you're minded to re-sew and tape edge everything - which is a whole lot of palaver to me but might be a doddle for you.)

You've just reminded me, our cat used to have a cardboard fruit tray and an old school cardi...... Durabed raised beds will breathe more than the plastic one and sweep/hose well- but they are a bit pricey

The great thing about cardboard boxes is that not only are they free but they can be chucked regularly when they show signs of any wear. No need for washing down.

My cats just love a piece of vet bed. Washes and tumbles really well.

We're converting a shed in the garden to provide lodgings for the cats and I need to make an attractive bed. They love my duvet so thought I'd go for that. I will cut it down in size for easier laundering. The more it looks like something they shouldn't sit on, the more they will.

Not sad at all. I'm always trying to re-use things so if you're up for it then great! (My eyesight isn't too great for needles and thread so it would likely be beyond me.)

Ours have a cheap dog bed we picked up from the market - works well and can be stuck in the washing machine easily.

They also have an old plastic toybox lined with old towels that they love. The towels can be shoved in the wash and as they're cats, they adore the box! At the moment, they also have an old diet coke 24 can box that they fight over

Old towels, old clothes and old boxes. A plentiful supply of those and you're all set for cats.

She slept in the box ALL day today - I put an old t.shirt in it for now

And stupidly I have had that box for months, on top of the wardrobe, meaning to put it in the shed!
