Cats' new favourite location to avoid coming in - the roof!

God they are driving me crackers at the moment! Incessant banging at the cat flap to go out at night, which most certainly isn't happening due to foxes. Now they have learned how to climb onto the roof of the house. I did snigger a little, seeing Scabbers sitting up there chewing on a fish tail I'd put out, with a "come and get me now" look on his face. But then he slid down the tiles and I think he scared himself a bit...
I will miss them when I go back to work in 2 weeks!

When I had Firstboy (who went outside) I had an upstairs bedroom in an old Victorian house. He used to get on to the greenhouse roof, cross to the slates on the back area, go right up on the ridge and across and leap on to my bedroom windowsill (20 foot drop) to cry to come in in the early hours of the morning.

I didn't think anything of it, then - it was just what cats did. Nowadays I'd be horrified.

God! Why do they do it to us?! Yesterday bloody Scabs went under the shower and when he tried to come back out he went under the lino so he was like this moving lump under the floor. Idiot. Can't find anythng suitable to block the gap under the shower so for now the bathroom is out of bounds!

Ouch - get the landlord to see to the gap under the shower anyway. Leaving Himself aside, it's not good for the fabric of the cottage.

He will learn to walk on the roof though, ours did and he can fall off a lap.

Yes he did and his tail went all massive so he definitely gave himself a shock. Then he realised there was a birds next in the gutter
I don't see that lasting too long

Yes - they learn to walk on a roof, even in the rain or snow. It's just practice.
