The litter tray

How often to groom my cat?

I've had my cat for a good few months and realised today I haven't groomed her since I've had her.

So I bought a slicker today and have given her a good brush. She loved it and got a couple of dreamies for her efforts Grin

So how long are you meant to brush them for? I was getting loads of fur out but stopped after about ten minutes because I didn't want to annoy her. Should I have kept going until no more fur was coming out?

and how often should I do it? Weekly?

thanks in advance Smile

It depends, I aim for every few days and stop when he walks away.

I got the feeling that if I stopped when she walked away Id have been there for a very long time Grin

I do it every evening. He enjoys it so.

I only ever have short haired cats as I never brush my cats because a) I forget and b) the posh arrogant boy would eat me alive.

Well Seniorboy is shorthaired and when he came to me at 13 he was virtually untamed. (My Mom, bless her, didn't bother - he hadn't been to the vet since he was neutered and didn't know what nipping claws meant.)

I attack mine every other day when moulting and once a month when not. All three hate it but food bribes work well.

I made it a part of our nightly love-in so he actually asks for it.
