... and has cornered it behind the wardrobe in the spare bedroom. I have locked offending cat in the room, but beyond that WTF can I do?

(I'm not 100% sure whether the rat is a mutant, but it's flippin' big!)

Thanks for those kind thoughts Debbylou, but he didn't look the cuddly type!

All quiet in the House of Rat last night, and the night before. No strange smells, so hopefully he did take his chances out of the window rather than curling up and expiring behind a wardrobe.

I am still not talking to bastard cat.

Shame hes gone really you could of got him a lil house n called him Ben smile

All together in squeeky high pitched voices grin

Ben the two of us need look no more
Weee both found what we were loookingg fooorr

He's probably long gone Sarah.

There was a rat at the end of my garden yesterday... Poor thing has no idea how much danger he's in picking my garden, my cats are proven rat murderers extraordinaire. He was quite cute and not of the mutant variety

For those of you who are Friends of the Small Furry Ones - the sticky boards remain untouched by rodent paw. Another quiet night in the House of Rat, and although I have walked (gingerly) around every room bashing things loudly, accompanied by bastard cat (hoping her ratdar would seek anything out) ratty didn't break cover. So we're back to the happy ending of the window jump, or ratty has breathed his last somewhere in the house, in which case I will no doubt be smelling him in a day or so. No strange noises from the walls / ceiling either.

Did wake up in the middle of the night imagining I saw ratty on my windowsill - slept with the light on after that!

changeforthebetter Tue 26-Feb-13 22:46:41

That is cute Vicar my old tabby is a bit past the rat-catching now. The ones we used to get (thankfully, outdoors) were not clutching teddies, mind grin

MadCap Tue 26-Feb-13 22:46:11

Vicar, my sister has those pictures on her Facebook too, and she like the Pol Pot or Hitler insert preferred genocidal maniac here of rats and mice. I forgive her though, because she's probably going to cure cancer or summat. grin

i urge anyone scared of them though to click my cute link on the page before this one....

really seriously cute rat.....truly! will make you see them in a different light!

MadCap Tue 26-Feb-13 22:37:33

I killed a rat once. It was my friend's pet. I was at hers for a sleepover. I tried to pet it, it bit me and then the next morning when we woke, it was deadsad I SWEAR I didn't do anything to it. I just must be poisonous to rats.

I've been bitten/pecked by lots of different animals. The rat was the only one to die.

yay SPC kindred spirits in more ways than one!

i do love rats. they are so clever, and so sweet, and they are great mums. I really do struggle with whats so scary about them - especially given those photos! they were on my vets FB page.....

rats make wonderful pets.

ive taken wild rats off my moggies before now though....same as ive taken birds and pigeons off em too...

I was hoping to MN tonight to the news that the King Rat had gone to a better place, a place far far away - and most importantly that you knew he had.

thecatneuterer Tue 26-Feb-13 22:20:40

I think those are the cutest photos I've ever seen!

Fluffycloudland77 Tue 26-Feb-13 22:19:25

They do look cute with a teddy.

My parents have a rat in the garden, it eats bird seed.

TheSilveryPussycat Tue 26-Feb-13 22:18:37

Hey catneuterer, that's vicar, you and me in the rat fan club.

Those pix are sweet but also odd vicar. Perhaps it's cos my first rat had just the sweetest little babies of her own smile

thecatneuterer Tue 26-Feb-13 21:37:51

At last VicarInaTutu. Someone who understands me. I was beginning to think I was the only rat lover in the world. I have picked up and rescued a rat that was being terrorised by cats in my garden. I put it somewhere safe. It stayed perfectly still for about 15 seconds, then ran off.

juule Tue 26-Feb-13 21:33:57

Mutant rat?
Master Shredder? Look out for ninja turtles. grin

Sorry not helpful.

ZebraOwl Tue 26-Feb-13 21:33:18

See it's things like this that make me quite glad the Zebra Kittens are still flatly refusing (aged almost 11 months) to venture outside. S'fine by me if they vote with their paws for the Indoor Cat Life!

ThatVikRinA22 Tue 26-Feb-13 21:24:31

oh....i like rats. i had them as pets. i cant kill em - not even the manky ones.

really - the sticky pads sound horrific and cruel to me.
im sure its gone out - i have picked up and put back out mice, voles, shrews, birds and rats before now.

it would have been terrified and anxious to get out knowing the cat was waiting....it will have gone im sure. rats are very intelligent. if its not there try not to worry about it.

if you are near me i will happily come and turf it out for you....--and talk to it--

I can offer my gorgeous border terrier who is a cracking ratter <proud> <helpful>

The Boomtown Rats were my favourite band when I were a lass..

No rustling or squeaking yet - have been in every room banging loudly.

Have resorted to wine to ensure some sleep tonight - this has made me realise that I could never be a contestant on I'm a Celebrity!
