Do cats have to have annual vaccinations?

We always take our cat the vet every year for a check up and her jabs but when I mentioned this to a friend the other day (also a cat owner) he says I'm mad and that they never bother.

Does everyone else do it or am I just wasting £80 a year!?

If you want them to remain protected againist leukaemia and cat flu yes every year. Feline panleucopaenia (nasty diarrhoea disease) every other year.
I am afraid we see unvaccinated cats with these dieases every year and several of them die from them.
