Tomorrow I will take my creaking gate of a cat to the vets to be humanely put to sleep. She is incontinent now, has very little strength to move around and doesn't seem interested in eating. There is nothing terminally wrong..she is just so weak. I keep hoping she will die naturally but I must now take the decision .

I'm very sorry to hear it. Mine is heading the same way and I'm dreading it.

Old lady died in her bed this morning. I really hope our other 2 other moggies don't linger on like she did. I will have to be braver next time and make the dreadful decision sooner.

If she wasn't in pain, and it sounds like she wasn't, then I can't help thinking that to die in her own bed surrounded by the family who loved her was the best way to go xx

We have said often that when it's her time, we hope our old cat goes quietly in her sleep, in her favourite warm sleeping place.

I'm so sorry coniston.

Gay I was just the same, I knew I had to have my dear old cat pts on the Monday and I hoped he'd just pass during the night.

Our lovely Moggie was put down today. She was 18 and sounds like a very similar condition to your dear cat.

I've had her half my life.

Trying to keep busy (knitting for another thread at the moment) but everytime I think of her I feel a bit lost :(

Hope she's found your cat and made a new friend somewhere that there's loads of mice and squirrels to chase.

So sad.

It really is the hardest thing to do.

Oh I'm so very sorry for both of you Sad I really am. Some time soon I'll be making that decision too and I'm terrified. Think of your babies with happy memories. Remember them when they were well, and think of the funny things they did that made you laugh. Remember their warm fur when they sat on your knee and remember the sound of their purring when they were happy and content.

Thinking of you both, and remembering your lovely cats x take care
