plug in cat pheromone device

We have an old lady cat (21). If we go away for the weekend (not that often) we have relatives come round to see to her who look after her well but we have noticed the last 2 times that she developed a water infection while we are away - blood in urine and needing to go often and was quite a distressed cat.

She recovers immediately with a trip to the vet and a shot of antibiotics (and because we are home?)

The vet mentioned that older cats can fret and be prone to this type of infection when stressed because we are away.

We are due to go away on holiday for 2 weeks in a few months and I'm really concerned about her.

The vet mentioned the plug in cat pheromone diffusers might help while we are away and I wondered if anybody has any experience of these and if they were of any help in a situation like this.

Any other suggestions welcome.

Feliway is sold on amazon and gets really good reviews, I think they take time to work.

I've had one plugged in for about 6 months, but I don't know whether it's made a difference or not as it turns out the cat's not stressed after all, but has lymphoma ...

It's worth a try though I'd have thought, it won't do any harm, well that's why i've still got it plugged in, lol

I have one plugged in at the moment. I think it's too early to say whether or not it's working because my elderly cat had a general anaesthetic and a tooth out yesterday and she's been nuts every since confused

The Feliway travel spray definitely works though.

Sorry about your cat tabulahrasa

Thanks for the replies and thanks for letting me know it's on Amazon.

I'm going to give it a go smile x

Our cat has had what sounds like this intermittently since we got her (7 years ago). It's probably stress related in her case and the Feliway diffuser did seem to make a difference.

Worth a go I would say.
