She's HUGE (bless her heart) and looks really fed up now and we are getting really impatient to welcome her babies into the world.

What are the signs that labour is imminent? She isn't showing any signs of 'nesting' infact I'm doing more nesting then she is Grin

She just eats/sleeps/eats/sleeps

I really fancied a live Mumsnet kitten birth but don't think it will be tonight!

I think normally they disappear for a day and then you find them & kits all snuggled up somewhere enormously inconvenient.... :).

We had a stray cat that adopted us, she had been sharing herself with the next door neighbours so could have delivered at either house. She was really clingy and meowed pitifully if I left her one particular day so I thought something was starting. It was early evening when she was noticably contracting, her sides sort of squeezed inwards and relaxed in waves and she was breathing differently.

Because she was a stray we confined her to the kitchen, and had prepared a cardboard box with old towels in. I managed to persuade her to get in it between contractions as basically it was that or the floor! My poor mum was trying to make tea around the box and me, because the cat wouldn't let me go, in a small kitchen. She had two kittens about 15 mins apart, and the third a couple of hrs later, all healthy and fed well once she had cleaned them up.

I felt really proud that that little cat trusted me to be there while she gave birth.

oh thats really sweet girlywhirly and glad everything went well, no sign of anything yet although when she lies down we can feel the kittens squirming around inside her.

Can't wait to meet them Smile

It's lovely to feel the kittens wriggling and hiccuping isn't it?

I hope your cat doesn't start up in the night and you miss the birth!
