Cat Food V Kitten Food??????

Would anyone know if I REALLY need to give our new (gorgeous:)) & now 14 week old kitten proper "Kitten" food??,

its been over 20 years since I've had 1 this young & I honestly don't remember Kitten food being around so much back then & I'm pretty sure I didn't use it with our old Cat who was mostly very healthy & lived to be over 20 Confused

The problem we now have, is that we also have a 2yr old, that we adopted when she was 1 & she is now greedily scoffing all the Kitten food, whilst the Kitten happily eats the normal stuff (both pouches & biscuits), not really eating more than usual, or trying to steal from the Kitten, just likes it & we've noticed as a result the she is starting to get very chunkyShock

is Kitten food REALLY that necessary?? as I'm thinking it might be better to stop it all together if we can, or we are going to end up with a very overweight black barrel of a CatConfused

My kitten hasn't had it, well I bought it, she however had other ideas and will only eat the other cat's food, lol

I checked the back of the packet, it's a bit higher in calories and taurine - I don't think there was anything else that was different (same brand of food)

She seems fine, she's nearly 6 months

Thanks for checking :) I don't have the same brands so couldn't compare, though brain dead right now & hadn't even thought of that...doh! :)

I think I'll just stick with the normal stuff, I'm sure he'd be the same as yours if that was all that was on offer too, he much prefers the adult stuff, & as I said our 2yr old likes it TOO much & is putting too much weight on as a result

I buy whiskas for my 2 adult cats and whiskas kitten food (pouches & biscuits) for my 2 kittens. Result? The adults eat the kitten stuff and the kits eat the adult stuff, so I have been wondering the exact same thing Smile

Well well, I had this dilemma with my new one. I just bought both and sort of alternatively used them. He seems to thrive on them. Bought some really expensive stuff in pots and he turned his elegant little nose up at them. But then so much cat food is aimed at the owner not the cat, I mean gold sparkly labels and called gourmet for gods sake. Some are nearly 10 quid a kilo.

I really don't think your cat will suffer if he doesnt eat kitten food.
