Walks around Petersfield

Please can I ask whether anyone knows of any nice circular walks around Petersfield? Seems very limited - lots of private land and all with noise from the A3. Moved here a few years ago and still feel really frustrated with lack of walking paths. Hate the South Downs! Really boring imo. Just a higher strip of land than the rest but not very dramatic. Would be grateful for suggestions!

Ask at QE park if they have a map
Or ask at the town council
Or ask dog owners
Or join the local ramblers for a few months

Thanks for suggestions Talk but -

I really don't like QECP so not keen to walk there (and don't get me started on Buster Hill by the A3!)

I have asked dog walkers and they aren't much help as they don't do serious walks - just potter to local field with dog.

Ramblers is very old people based round here - I'm only 35 so would feel a bit of an odd one out!

I will call council but I have all the OS maps so I'm not sure how much they will be able to help. They have the 'healthy walking schemes' but I'm looking for something a bit more interesting than that.

Walking has always been a huge part of my life - just popping out for an hour and a half to do a couple of miles in peace and quiet feels like a distant dream now Confused

Look up Shipwrights Way which passes through Petersfield. Maybe plan to do the whole route over a period of time, using public transport as a return option?

Also there is a great walk down through the Test Valley.

Sorry neither of those are terribly local to you, but its all I can think of!

Drive down past Butser Ancient farm down to the Red Lion pub at Chalton. Park in the pub car park and cross over the road. Walk out the back of the church and you'll find a lovely network of public footpaths amongst the fields. Rolling countryside with a completely different feel to the South Downs.
Also have you walked right round the back of QECP? Park at the bottom just before you begin to climb up the hill and walk right around the back of the park. The A3 is not so loud and again it has a different feel and is much less crowded.

I agree about QE being too full - but they might have maps ...

I just looked up Pub Walks and found this though
