Geocaching!!?? Anyone know much about this??
(7 Posts)I was just looking at reviews for campsites and noticed one reviewer had posted after review 'oh and if anyone is interested there are a number of geocaches hidden along the river walk!'
I've googled and it looks like some kind of world-wide treasure hunt. My 9 year old ds is now really interested and wants to go hunting this evening!
Is anyone into this and can you give us tips/advice-thanks
It is really good fun! My 7 yr old dd loves it. It is a great way to engage her on a walk. Download the free app and that will give you plenty to go at. Premium caches (treasure) are only available when you subscribe but there are loads of free ones. A word of warning - some can be difficult/impossible to find so make sure you warn your child to avoid major disappointment. Good luck and happy geocaching !
It's brilliant and gets my teens out of the house and walking. Try the free app either geocaching or c:geo and try a few geocaches close to home then you get the hang of it and don't have much to loose if you can't find them. Also there are some videos on the geocaching website that show you what to look for etc.
it's perfect for getting rid of tiny party bag toys too .
I'd like to get into this too. I'm getting a smart phone for my birthday (tomorrow!) so hoping to put it to good use. What website is it spababe ?
It's brill! I do it with my 8 year old. The website tells you all you need to know www.geocaching.com/play
We started geocaching about three years ago when a friend told us there was a cache placed about 10 yards from our house. DS is 5 and absolutely loves it. We do a lot of camping so and it's great to always have something (free) to do wherever we go. I've also been to loads of cool wee spots that I never knew were there even in my local area.
