We live at the seaside and SpokenNerd's suggestion is best - crocs are ideal. You can do rockpooling in them and if you slip, it doesn't matter if they get wet. Nothing worse than having to spend the rest of the day in wet shoes (actually, there is - not being able to go rockpooling in the first place because your shoes are unsuitable!)

Crocs. Great for sand, stones and water because you can shake them out/wash them off easily.

You can get a fake pair in most big supermarkets for a fiver.

Something like crocs and prob wellies as they are likely to go rock pooling.

Crocs in my opinion.

High heeled sandals - no
ballet pumps - no

The last thing you want is a tripping on the steps or shoe lost in the sand scenario.

trainers - yes
lace up canvas shoes - yes
start-rite type shoes - yes

Maybe take some flip flops in the bag?

Just some comfy pumps that they can run around in and it doesn't matter if they get wet or full of sand.

This is a bit of a weird question, but I have not been to the seaside in ages.
Which leads me to my question on what is "sensible" shoes? Wellies? Even if it doesn't rain? I don't know. Please help.
