Going to choose our new chocolate boy lab puppy tonight.

I’ve no idea what I’m looking for......

Is it true that the puppy will choose us ?

The pups are 4 weeks old. We’ve been waiting since last December so very excited !

I doubt a 4 week old puppy will choose you. They will still be pretty wobbly and very interested in Mum and their siblings.

See if you can go back at about 6 weeks and make your final choice. You will have more to go on at that age.

How exciting though

I went to see our pup at 6 weeks. He comes home next week.

I would say he chose me. I went really to see two other pups but one was a very dominant, boisterous lad and FawkesPup just kept coming over to me. He was very licky and sweet compared with the other two, and just kept coming over to me.... that's why I chose him.

Agree with pp, four weeks is a bit early for any obvious personality. See if the breeder will let you come back at 6/7 weeks to make a final choice. Have fun and lots of cuddles

Not sure if breeder will allow that and waiting list is full so we might not get to actually choose IYSWIM.

We visited pups at 4.5 weeks (black labs). We had a choice of 3 and would have been happy with any, at that age there was nothing much between them personality or size wise. We let our pup pick us, she was the first to come over and nibble our shoelaces, but again we would have been happy for the breeder to assign. She could have swapped them later for all I knew :-)

Well, our pup has chosen us!!
They were all identical.

He wandered over to me for a cuddle and then promptly fell asleep on my lap.

So adorable, we're bringing him home in 4 weeks 🥰
