Can I walk my dog. DD has covid

Can I walk my dog if I’m self isolating? She doesn’t poo in the garden only outside so she really needs a walk twice a day at the very least.
My dog Walker is vulnerable and the only other people she walks with are my in-laws and their very old.
I was going to go out now 5.50am?
It’s so hard to know what to do. She wouldn’t walk with strangers.

Yes. Just go out first thing and last thing, and avoid people. Somewhere quiet, cross roads etc

I would. You're not likely to see many, if any, people at this time of day. And you'll be outside and can keep your distance.

I have come to the conclusion that I would absolutely do the same. No way I couldn't walk my dog and he's challenging so wouldn't trust anyone else apart from our trainer

I walked my dogs when my dds had covid too. The first time I was part of the daily testing programme anyway so was allowed out, the second time, I just did it and avoided people. Also got a PCR test just to check.

Get a friend or neighbour, or a professional walker to do it.

Also google for advice on how to keep,a dog happy, heathy and stimulated when spending more time at home - all the main welfare organisations have advice on this (it's useful for injured, convalescent and infectious dogs, as well as those with potentially infectious owners)

Because most of the rules make no bloody sense! How can someone (who doesn't have covid themselves) walking their dog at 6 o'clock in the morning and not going near another person, present any risk to anyone?

Technically no but I would too. Totally doable to take a dog for a walk round here without bumping into anyone.

Yes I would, there’s no way our dog would cope without two walks a day and you can easily avoid people, cross the road etc.

How the feck is that any less risky? The person has to touch the dog lead from the covid household and spend time with their dog (animals can and do get covid) and in the vicinity of the household.
Compared to no one being exposed when OP walks dog alone at a quiet time.

We’ve got deserted woods near us and I would definitely take my dog there and back for poos at 5.50am in your circumstances.

Technically no you aren't permitted, however we had to as well - we used the back gate, went to less well trodden areas nearby and only walked them before or after most people were out.

Not everyone has the ££££ to pay a dog walker, very few decent walkers are available daily at such short notice and whe you have dogs that won't pee or poo in your garden (as you've trained them that way), you can't just leave them to cross their legs for days at a time.

I am happy to keep to every rule and I have kept to every rule for as long as this has been going on
I’m doing lateral flow tests everyday and have no symptoms.
Walking her twice a day once at 5.30am and then at 11.30am is safe.
Where I live the roads are very quiet and very wide. Today I walked in the road so I could see anyone who suddenly appeared out of a car or gate. I was out for 5 minutes and then back again.
I understand it’s not ideal but it is what it is.
Also I wore a mask - a proper PPE level mask and disinfected the front door when I got home.
It’s not ideal but I have a responsibility to my dog.

He's got behaviour issues that require careful management so can't be walked by just anyone.

I can't afford to shut down my business for ten days, have no income, get no help, and then pay for a dog walker at £12 a pop (£17 on weekends) on top of that - no fucking way.

I'd say I was walking my dog to Barnard Castle to check my eyesight, only doing what any responsible dog parent would do, was part of the same pilot scheme that the PM had joined.
I'd go out early, go to my quietest spots.
And test daily.

It depends on what area you live and what time you walk tbh.

I walk my dogs early morning and late evening. DH walks them around lunchtime. We live in a rural area and rarely come across anyone else. On the rare occasions we do they are easily avoidable.

I live semi-rurally and I know exactly which routes to take/times of day to avoid any people.
I would need if for my own sanity as well.

I'm prepared to follow every other rule (and I still wear a mask etc in shops) but not this one.

I wouldn’t of there was covid in the household.
