Bedtime routine - biscuit?

Do people give a bedtime snack/biscuit to dogs at bedtime? I remember my parents used to. We are due to get a pup soon and am wondering if this is a good cue/routine to use or does it stimulate tummies?
Obviously not important to start it with a tiny pup but I'm being hopeful and looking beyond the early looong sleepless nights and bitey days! Grin

Mine always has a couple of gravy bones at bedtime , not sure he would actually go upstairs without having them .

No, I never do. Babies get told 'sleepy night time' and popped in their crate with the blanket over, the big dogs get told to go to bed.

Mine does because he struggles with suspected acid reflux in the morning if he goes a long time without food.

A trainer recommended a kong smeared with a tiny bit of something like cream cheese to help our new puppy settle, kind of like a dummy he can suck. We did that for a couple of nights but now he just has a bedtime nylabone that he nibbles at as he falls asleep.

Mine gets a treat when he comes in from his last wee in the garden.

Mine do as a reward for going out last thing at night to pee. I always feel cruel rousing them for that bedtime pee.

Mine did when he was younger, or we'd be woken up at 5am with him sicking bile up under the bed.

He doesn't need it anymore but he does get a snack of some chicken or veggies at around 8.30pm.

No, mine doesn’t.

Yes. Mine does.

For no other reason than it has developed as part of his bedtime ritual - and he really loves his rituals!

When I go to bed and then when I get up for the loo. Otherwise she gets peckish.

My girl gets a specific bedtime biscuit (Lily’s kitchen) when she comes in from her last wee too, around 10pm. She also has breakfast biscuits for the 7am wee, because she doesn’t get breakfast until closer to 8/8.30am.

Treat for a final bedtime pee, yes. But ours was an adult rescue, and spent at least 12 months plus not peeing in the garden EVER do it really did need the reward cue to happen and we spent ages incentivising it. As a PP says, rousing them later at night when they’re already snuggled down to go out in the cold/wet feels like it deserves a treat! I wouldn’t with a small puppy though, probably.

Yes I do mine. She would occasionally be sick in the morning before food (known as hunger pukes) and it is said to help stop it. She has been fine since. Ginger nut, custard cream or digestive 🐾

Mine gets a frozen carrot and a bedtime biscuit... he’s had both since he was little and it’s very much part of the bedtime routine for him...

5 gravy bones... for which she has to sit, down, wait, paw and 'legs' . She likes the routine and the second she's done her last wee, dashes to the kitchen expectantly!

I started it because she was sometimes sick with bile in the morning if she had an empty stomach..and we walk before breakfast and she often doesn't eat ti after 10am.

We never used to and haven't given supper to any previous dogs but current dog was bringing up bile in the morning some days so now he gets two biscuits at 9pm.

Yes, our retired greyhound gets a biscuit when he’s in bed. Also gets one in the morning so I can have a shower without him lurking outside the bathroom door. He knows to lie down on his bed for it.

We do! We also have a newborn so when we go downstairs to get her bottle, he gets a treat then too Smile
