Anyone have any experience of Cavachons?

We're picking ours up in the next couple of weeks. After extensive research we decided a Cavachon will be the best fit for our family. Would love to hear from other Cavachon owners.

My friend has one and she is delightful. Really sweet and playful but not the high energy that I have experienced from cockerpoos.

Neighbour has one and it’s lovely.

Oh that's great to hear, we've been waiting a long time for ours but we are sure it's the right breed for us. Every one we have met over the years has been so gentle & affectionate. Can't wait to meet ours!

My sister has one. It would rather sleep than walk and is very cuddly. It wasn’t well socialised as a pup so is a bit snappy to other dogs.

Deep-fried, getting ours at 8 weeks so we'll be sure to get him or her meeting lots of people & animals from the get go!

A friend of mine just got one - he's about 12 weeks old now and super, super cute. I gather he's rather mischievous though Grin

I have a cav called Loli. She's 9 and is a wonderful dog. She loves the beach, loves long walks and Rich Tea biscuits but will happily sleep for hours (on DH's head lol).
She's as good as gold, obviously doesn't moult but needs clipping every 6 weeks or so.

Oh she's gorgeous! Any advice for a new owner? We chose this breed due to the temperment as dc are 6 & 7😊

I think we broke all the rules. She cried on the first night so I brought her into bed with me and 9 years later that's still where she sleeps. They are very easy dogs I belong to a Welsh Cav group and behaviour issues seem rare in non rescues. Like any dog I'd say socialise her and do loads when he/she is young.
My lovely girl is presently stretched out on the bed beside me snoring gently. We only came back from the caravan this afternoon and she's spent the last 2 weeks on the beach. She can swim but would rather chase her toy where it's shallow.

Oh and she's always lived with cats and other dogs no issues. She will try to chase squirrels tho but she wouldn't know what to do if she caught one!

Eloise, has your cavachon had any health issues at all? I'm concerned about the cavalier side. The breeder has recent paperwork to show us full health checks on parents & both in full health although both parents are relatively young 4 & 7 x

No. Mine is 5 and my mum's is 4 and neither have had any health problems at all. So far.
