Hi
I bought a puppy from my cousin who lives in Utah for 5 months ago. I paid $2200 inclusive transport. She came to Sweden(where I live) to work the summer season and took the puppy with her to me.
She gave me a pedigree kennel paper and told me to wait before I register the puppy in my name, and there's wasn't any ownership transfer signature to my name. The paper hasn't any value. I confronted her a few days ago and she gets furious and told me I didn't pay for the puppy. My husband sends her a $1000 check and transfers $1000 more, then I transfer $220 more for the transport.
I figured she doesn't have any license to run a dog breed kennel and that's why can't sign the ownership transfer papers.
I have the puppy's vaccination card, passport, vet inspection, and other papers on him.
I would like to report her for been running an illegal dog breed kennel but don't know where? Also would be thankful if someone has any experience on how to own your own puppy? How do I do?
Truly thankful for any answers

When you say kennel paper, is it from the American kennel Club? Just contact them to report.
www.apps.akc.org/apps/contact/answer_center/faq_resolveconflict.cfm
Are you wanting to breed from your dog? If it’s just as a family pet then, presumably, it won’t matter so much. Are you saying you had the puppy 5 months and have only just paid her?
If you have the dog and all the other papers and have no plans to move to Utah I don’t imagine the ownership paper will be much of an issue tbh. But there is a transfer ownership here for the AKC
www.akc.org/register/transfer/
Sorry if I’ve misunderstood.

Do you mean you've bought this puppy without any research nor any idea who to look after it? That's very irresponsible.

I suggest you find yourself a good, well recommended trainer who trains dogs by positive reinforcement. Keep away from anyone who trains dogs using punishing or harsh methods or talks about dominance and pack behaviour.

And do a great deal of reading on how to care for and train a puppy; there is loads of information online and load of different books you can buy.

Yes it is American kennel club. I've sent them an e-mail for a week ago, but got no answers. Can't find where to report in the website. My dog is a male and I don't want to use him to make money, but I do need to sale him due to my divorce. My husband bought the puppy as a gift to me, but since him is not paying spousal support I will need to sale the puppy and in that case cheaper than him bought th for

Blankblankblank Sorry, I wasn't done with my message.
I can't afford the puppy, but don't want to make make a profit. And I can't sale him since I don't have the contract to show he's mine. Can't change his chip to Swedish chip either. Can't transfer the ownership to my name.... I don't know what to do anymore.

Thank you so much to take time to for answer me.

I bought the puppy from my cousin and figure out she's running a illegally kennel for just few days ago when I told her I'll need to sell the puppy. She's been lying all along.

You paid by cheque and bank transfer so you have proof of payment however it’s really irrelevant . I assume from your post that you are in Sweden and wanting to sell the dog , is there some reason why you cannot sell him without his papers , what breed is he ?

Hi
The puppy must be register in the Swedish Board of Agriculture in my name and I can't do that without her signature. People here would not buy the puppy without knowing he's mine

Pity it’s not that well controlled over here . Could you write to the AKC and explain to them that you are no longer in contact with the breeder and she hasn’t filled in the paperwork and see if they can issue you a certificate .

You want to sell on your pup as you can't afford it? Not sure why you asked for it to be transported to you then?? Would the breeder (your cousin) take the pup back to rehome? I understand that may be difficult given the distances involved but most breeders would be unhappy about you selling on a puppy of theirs tbh.

Or do you mean you still have not paid your cousin for your puppy?

If you can’t afford it why don’t you simply surrender it to a rescue.
But you say you bought the pup.
Then it was a gift.
At least get the story straight OP.

I understand what you are asking, even if other posters seem not to get it!
Your husband bought you a puppy from abroad, which should have been registered by the breeder with the American kennel body (not buy you). Then she transfers the puppy ownership to you. She should have given you an official certificate plus a pedigree going back several generations, including any health tests done on the parents etc.
If you didn't get any of this then she is not legitimate as you have realised. You can report her to her local animal protection society for puppy farming and to the American kennel authority - surely a bit of googling will get you some contact details. Also there is likely to be a breed specific society.
It does seem odd that your husband bought you a puppy that was transported from America to Sweden only charging $2200, I would have thought the puppy transport would have cost quite a bit. And then you say you want to sell this puppy as you have now split with your partner and he is not going to pay you support? Do you need the money or just want to get rid of the dog? If you can't sell it surrender it to the breed's society in your area, they will find someone to adopt it.

yes, contact the breed club in Sweden and ask for their help - is it a particularly unusual breed?

I'm saying I bought him because my husband made the payement from my account. Why would I lie? I'm just in a horrible situation and only asking for advice, nothing else!
I need to atleast get back what I've paid, so I can afford a attorney.

It's not expencive at all to travel with a puppy. KLM airline allow you to have a small animal under your seat, which cause the price to fall. The costs of his transport was $260 because she had bought her ticket by KLM Airlines. It's only to google it.
I don't want to get rid of him, he's a sweet puppy and we love him and what ppl don't understands is that is a very hard decision to make and I wouldn't if O hade a choice. He deservs a family who can afford him so he can have the very best life.

Thanks for answers

So contact breed rescue
If the breeder is dodgy you may well not be able to get papers for the dog anyway.

My only question to this forum was where to report a iligaly breeder, because this is the reason she can't signe the American Kennel transfer pappers to me. Without those papers signed I can't sale him. As I already answer Pipandmum, this was a very dificult decision to make.
My husband said he would be a gift, but paid him with a transfer from my account. Now he's not even paying for spousal support and I paid $300 this month just for puppy insurence. It's for 2 months insurence because I was late with the payment.
I can't read minds, how would I know I would be divorcing a month after getting the puppy?

I see op, I'm sorry I misunderstood your original post. I'm sorry for the situation in which you find yourself, getting divorced and having the horrible situation of being forced to rehome your beloved puppy sounds awful. Flowers

The reason is that you can't sell a dog without the papers signed by the breeder here in Sweden

It may be she’s not acting illegally. Just immorally. I don’t know American rules.
In the U.K. you can breed a dog without KC papers.
If she’s constantly breeding from the same bitch then she may well not be registering the litters.
Don’t you have any papers at all? Surely you didn’t travel without any proof it was your pup at all?

I don't understand how you can transport a pup internationally without any proof of ownership. Is he microchipped in your name?

Yes, she have 3 bitch which one has had 3 litters in a period of a year. Now the same bitch going to have one more litter.
I have all the papers, but the American Kennel Club is missing her signature and additionally she didn't gave me a contract with terms and conditions. She told me she would do that when she gets back to Utah, which she did in the end of July. I trusted her because she's my cousin. Either in a thousands years I would believe she were capable to do such a thing.
I didn't travel to get the puppy, she did. I paid all the transport fees. She's still an citizen of Sweden and use to come here every summer to work the whole summer holiday (May to July)

Three litters in a year? But bitches generally don’t have that many seasons in a year!
Why on Earth didn’t you insist on the signature before she left?
This sounds more and more bogus.
