8 month old puppy toiletting in the nights

She went through a phase of sleeping through but some nights will bark to be let out for a wee and/or poo in the middle of the night. Sleeps in our room so we hear that she needs to go out - but it's very disruptive.

Last night she slept in the hall, and I don't know whether we didn't hear her or is she just snuck downstairs and massive poo and wee in the kitchen.

This is getting tiresome! She's not very regular when she eats. And DH fed her about 8 last night which is much later than normal. I think we need to feed her earlier and take her out for a walk before bed. Which will mean waking her up as she takes herself off to bed about 8pm. We always wake her up for a last wee in the garden about 10 or 10.30 (which she's grumpy about).

She usually gets a walk in the afternoon and then another one about 6pm.

Do we need a different routine? A later walk to get it moving?

Our pup did the same at this age, I thought he’d never go all night but suddenly at 11 months he’s sleeping straight through so it might’ve and age thing but feeding earlier could help.

Dogs need a regular feeding routine - they're not like cats and shouldn't graze. Feed at regular times and if she doesn't eat, take it up and don't give her anything else until the next feeding time - sounds harsh but she'll soon learn to eat at meal times!

If she's fed at random times you're going to find it much harder to toilet train her. I think 8pm is far too late - we feed early - 3pm for the evening meal, but I'd say anything up to 6pm should be okay. Can you feed her an hour or so after her afternoon walk perhaps? Then she has time to digest her food and do a wee and poo before bed. I wake mine before bed (he falls asleep on the sofa) to go to the toilet around 10.30pm too, then he comes up and sleeps in our room overnight.

He sleeps through from then until gone 8am in the morning quite happily. This morning he didn't even want to go to the toilet until his morning walk!
