Is this a tick?

Bizarrely none of my dogs have had a tick before, so I don't know how to recognise them. Ddog has got this between her toes - we noticed it at the weekend. Doesn't seem painful although she locks it occasionally.

No. Ticks are black/brown not pink

Ah, thank you. It did feel a bit too firmly attached to be a tick. Quite relieved, would take a cyst over a tick any day!

Ticks will be very firmly attached. They are not easy to remove because they insert their heads in the skin. With ticks, definitely see a vet, who should know how to remove them properly.

No need to see a vet with ticks. Just use a tick remover and one twist and they are gone.

Hi,
It does not look like a tick. Ticks are easily removed unless they are around the eye area. Buy a tick twister.

It could be a grass seed embedded in the paw, in which case it needs to be looked at ASAP. They do incredible damage and even migrate through the body and do further damage.

My dog had things that looked like that popping up from time to time. They were fatty lumps that the vet would remove. Had to be removed because if they were to catch on bracken or fences there would be lots of blood...

(Although I do think some ticks can be quite pink until they are engorged)

I agree with the poster who suggested a grass seed, i wouldn't leave it til friday (im a vet nurse)

Years ago one of our dogs had a similar thing, interdigital cyst if I remember correctly.

Not true at all. Ticks can easily be removed at home with a tick removal tool - only a couple of pounds from the pet shop. Absolutely no need to see a vet!

Looks like a grass seed. Been pulling them out left right and centre for the last few weeks. Get a morning appointment if you can and take her in starved as she may need some sedation

Try get that seen to sooner rather than later. Grass seeds can be nasty.

Ticks can definitely be removed at home, otherwise I'd be spending huge amounts of time (and money) in the vets!

When I said firmly attached, I meant that the whole base was attached rather than a smallish mouth -sized area, if that makes sense. I've looked more closely and it's definitely her skin rather than a tick.

It seems to have gone down quite a lot today - please don't tell me that's a bad sign I called the vet back and jabbered at them about killer grass seeds, and they have agreed to see her tomorrow afternoon, which is absolutely the earliest they can do. There's no hole or discharge that I can see.

I should add in case it's relevant - she is allergic to pretty much everything.

That really is a rubbish pic, but I would say it's about half the size it was yesterday and less pink looking.

Basically I had to pull the skin slightly today to bring it into view, whereas yesterday it was visible just by parting her toes. I think it is going down, but maybe not by as much as half the size.
