Picky from day one...

Expensive raw complete... she wouldn't eat it. She likes the odd raw chicken wing and that is it.
Orijen dry... too rich
Lily's kitchen.. meh.. ok as kibble goes but won't eat it without a bit of cheese or chicken on top...
Won't touch posh canned stuff.

Tried all sorts ..gently adding a little only to have it rejected, but none has upset her stomach.

Then.. a week on carprodyl quadri anti inflammatories for a leg injury = the worst diarrhoea ever...

So, on a friend's suggestion I bought a can of Chappie from the supermarket. I felt ashamed of doing so but apparently it's gentle on tummies.

And the ungrateful bloody dog LOVES it! I could not believe my eyes when I tentatively offered her a spoonful and she nearly took my hand off.
I've topped her kibble with it for the last few days and her stomach has settled and she is keen to eat!

(It'll have a to be an occasional treat I think when she's all back to normal.. but honestly... DOGS!)

My former street dog was given the finest foods known to dog. For weeks. Then DH brought home Sawdust and Nostrils (trademark) and DDog has never looked back.

I've had same issue with one of my dogs. The vet advised chappie. OMG it works for dioreah. My dog has a sensitive stomach its the only food that has worked. It has made me think twice about these expensive brands now. Chappie is backed by vets. I'm totally shocked. I was embarrassed to buy it but have to say my dog loves it and its worked for his sensitive stomach. My vet said a lot of these high end brands are unnecessary and are no better.

I had a dog in the past that had a sensitive stomach, she would have the squits quite regularly, over the years I tried her on all sorts of specialised 'Sensitive Diet' foods even vet prescribed & very expensive foods.
I eventually tried the ORIGINAL
CHAPPIE and Hey Ho the squits stopped. I just had to keep an eye on her when on walks to make sure that she didn't eat anything undesirable.
The dogs I had since & now seem to have cast iron stomachs & can eat anything.
Having said the above I also did wonder whether my dog had an intolerance to chicken because even vet diet food is chicken based & most other foods wet & dry include poultry fat in their ingredients even if they don't specify chicken. The ORIGINAL CHAPPIE doesn't have any poultry ingredients.

Why does it need to be an occasional treat?

Chappie is really good quality for the price and is great for dogs with sensitive stomachs. Don't be put off by how cheap it is - it's absolutely fine for dogs and yours shouldn't have any issues eating it long-term.

Out of interest I had a look to see the ingredients of chappie and it does contain 4% chicken, just in case anyone who's reading this dogs are allergic to chicken

This is good to know! I spend a fortune feeding my boy (butternut box) and he does love it, but it is expensive.

All i can say is my dog has had dioreah since i got him. He was fed good quality food. He had stool tests etc to rule out other things. He has a sensitive stomach and Chappie works. I've never been so excited about seeing a solid dog poo after weeks of clearing up the garden with a hosepipe. I would recommend it. Im keeping him on it. Im now dubious regards all these so called high end grain free dog foods.

@Juiceey my dog is also on Butternut box. I am starting to feel the pinch of £60 per month. Would love to change him but he loves it so unsure what to do. He's so fussy
