Poo Bags for new puppy

Sorry for such a dull question but I pick up our first puppy next week and the only thing we don’t have for him is poo bags.
Just been on Amazon / Ebay and there are so many different types.
Do I need tie handles? The ones on a roll, Scented ones? or a dispenser?
and a friend was telling me to double bag on walks do you think this is necessary?
Any advice greatly appreciated
Many Thanks

I just use nappy sacks from the supermarket. Tie handle and scented.

Dull but necessary!

I use black ones from the website EcoVibe. They are made of cornstarch so not terrible for the environment. And they are black so can't see the poo through them. They are strong enough for me to do 'poo patrol' in the garden and bag up three separate poos in one bag. (Impressive skills eh?).

I've never needed to double bag. I walk my dog with a dog walking bag thing that I use to carry a ball, treats and poo bags. If he does one I can just bag it up and pop in a pocket of the other bag until I see a bin or get home.

I would definitely get a bag dispenser. We have one for each lead, think they were only £1.50 so cheap as chips.
It means we always have bags when we are out so don't have to remember. Also stops every pocket I own ending up with poo bags in them.

I'm probably doing things wrong but don't have special bags. Any waste food bags from household (like banana, magazine, packaging or bread bags) will do.

Tesco F and F nappy bags are great for this. They are in a purple pouch and the bags are bright yellow. Very good strong plastic and a decent size.

Wilko sell good poo bags. Used to come in a packet which was a bit of a faff but last time I bought them they had doubled the size and were on a roll. They're a dark pink colour and cost £1 for 50 bags. I've been a dog owner for several years and have found these to be the best

I buy biodegradable ones from Amazon. They are cheap, think I buy about 800 at a time!

I wouldn't use ordinary nappy sacks, sending biodegradable animal waste to landfill wrapped in plastic seems so illogical to me!!

I buy 400 biodegradable scented ones from TK Maxx at a time. Much prefer them to any other brand decent thickness no risk of a finger through. They are made by Earth rated you ca n buy them elsewhere, but TK Maxx is cheapest.

I also use the biodegradable ones.

I hate the scented ones as I find the scent is horrible
I dont use ones with handles
I dont use a dispenser just shove them in my pockets but you may be more organised than me!

Depends on the size of your dog if you need to have heavy duty large bags or just normal .

I train my dogs to poo at home so dont often need to use them out and about but that is up to you. Poos at home are picked up straight away with a trowel and put in compostable dog loo.

I have two dogs and use biodegradable ones off Amazon. I take two bags with me on walks but generally just use one and pick up two to three poos and deposit at end of walk. Just slip your hand inside, grab the poo and turn it out, at least for the first lot. I like tie handle better but the ones I have now don't have them and doesn't make that much difference. No need to double bag.
Please dispose in bin - it doesn't have to be dog waste specific, any bin will do.

Thanks for all your advice
Does anyone know how to pick up more than one poo in a poo bag ?
Just thought it may save me using loads for when he does a poo in the garden
Many thanks

I use earth rated poo bags which are biodegradable and large enough to pick up multiple poos in the garden. I have 3 dogs so there's a lot of poo picking to do.

I use the black ones on a roll from Pets at Home. I discovered early on I prefer black to the lighter coloured ones!

I also have the little dispensers hanging off each lead.

Scott pet shop biodegradable from Amazon. Recycled but most importantly huge and strong 😂

Dark green biodegradable poo bags here from Scots Petshop on Amazon, picking more than one up is the same as picking one up. Hand in the bag, grab poo with bagged hand, grab another poo if there is one, might have to press down a bit to get it to stick together if it's a big one. Pull bag handles back over hand as you lift up, tie handles et voila. You can only pick up more than one if you're doing it at the same time

In the garden I have a small metal fire shovel and pick them up then drop them into the bag.

Top Tip don't buy the really cheap thin ones. Get ones that are not flimsy and thin otherwise your finger can go through the bag.
