There is so much online, I’m confusing myself so I wondered if the wisdom of MN can help me.

DDog is approx 9.5years old and puppy will be 8 weeks.

Neutral ground. Put puppy down and let older dog have a good sniff. Remove puppy if older dog gets too boisterous or stroppy, chill everyone down, try again. Once the older dogs have got used to the puppy - depends on the dogs, with the most recent puppy it took about 10 mins to establish that the older dog, while displeased, would not do any damage, and the that the younger one was thrilled to bits - go home and have a supervised intro there as well.

The older dog(s) will tell the puppy off for all sorts of infractions over the days and weeks to come, but that's to be expected. If you're lucky, your older dog will adopt your puppy as its own and they'll cuddle up together at bedtime.

Make sure the established dog gets plenty of love and attention. We tend to provide the odd tasty snack when the puppy gets fed, to try and reduce the envy over all those extra meals...
