The doghouse

Lost Beerydog1 and Beerydog2 this year. I’m a mess.

Really struggling, lost my soul-dog (to borrow a phrase from a pp) in April, then his ‘sister’ 2 weeks ago. Covering so well in other aspects of my life, including coping with a stressful job, but at home I just disintegrate. Beerydog3 doesn’t know what’s going on, DH has his own problems, how can I kick myself up the arse?

You can’t just ‘kick yourself up the arse’ , sorry for your losses , losing a much loved pet is no different to losing any other family member and the grief will unfortunately take as long as it takes 💐

Thanks, so many people have lost actual relatives right now I feel guilty/stupid for grieving so much for my losses. I’ve been trying so hard not to let on, but tonight it’s really hit me. I sound so self-indulgent, sorry

You don’t sound self indulgent at all and your feelings are as valid as any other person who has suffered a bereavement , take care of yourself and don’t feel guilty .

Its ok not to be ok. Do not kick yourself up the arse - you have lost close friends and companions. You must feel devastated. I am so sorry you are having to go through this.

Do take care and as long as you need

I’m sorry you’ve lost yours too. Hope your vets were as good as mine, despite lockdown they were very understanding Flowers

Thank you. Work don’t see dogs in the same way, I’m so grateful that you guys understand. My boy had been with me for 19 years, longer than my DH, my girl for 15.
