Dog friendly cottages

Does anyone have a recommendation or a website or even a specific property they loved? Looking Yorkshire, Scottish birders or Lake District for a break in the "summer" holidays. I say this as today is so grey 😕

We book with Airbnb and they have a filter for Dog Friendly just as they do for wifi, number of bedrooms etc. We've stayed in a couple of lovely places and we're off to Shropshire to a dog friendly place with them in 10 days or so.

There are several Facebook groups for dog friendly cottages: just search dog friendly holidays and you will find them. You book direct with the owner and cut out the fees charged by the agencies.

When we were in the UK we used to stay in Windermere twice a year in a lovely cottage called Old Codger's Cottage (they also owned the cottage next door called Windermere Cottage which was a little larger and more modern). We took our dog with us. The owners were lovely. I just found it via Google and contacted the owner (Clive) myself. We had so many wonderful breaks there. So many places are dog friendly too.

Grace Holiday cottages are totally dog friendly, they are allowed on the leather sofas and no limit on numbers within reason. they give 10% of the rental to Many Tears. We went to the Dorset cottage and it was lovely.

Just wanted to add I had a horrific experience with Pets Pyjamas, they messed up a booking, we were the other side of the country stranded in a place we didn't know at 10pm with nowhere to stay. They didn't even apologise the next day or help us with an alternative.

Read the small print, as some call themselves dog friendly, but aren't really. Eg Dogs on a lead in the garden. No dogs upstairs etc

@sahbear very good point. Some bill themselves as dog friendly when they actually mean dog tolerant!

We always stay at Little Dumpledale Farm in Pembrokeshire, they are extremely dog friendly and plenty of dog friendly beaches a short drive away to choose from.

Agree with pp re petspyjamas. Have used them a few times and they are very good.

I stayed at the lake district but in a holiday lodge dog friendly. Limefitt Park you can walk around there with dog or straight out the back is a long walk. Its perfect for dogs. Its not a huge site so not noisy i didn't book through the park there are plenty of private owned ones if you google. Its great for dogs. I live rural and my dogs are not use to people walking past my house so we got one facing the river. Best time to go is October when kids are back at school though.
