I don't get it. Why do people bag up their poo then leave it hanging on a branch/gatepost/on floor. Genuinely asking as mystified!Hmm

I have no idea. DD and I did a bit of a litter pick on a recent dog walk and it included the inevitable hanging bag of crap.

I can understand leaving it by a gatepost so that you don't have carry it all walk, and can find it later to dispose of it properly, but hanging it in the trees baffles me - and it gets dog owners a bad name.

Some people even throw the bags into trees and they are hanging . Gross !

Fucking grim. It's just littering to leave them anywhere. I wouldn't leave my crisp packet on the floor to "pick up later" because it would be inconsiderate to those around me who don't want to look at my rubbish. Plus it would encourage others to litter. If you can't deal with poo, don't get a dog.

It’s because people don’t mind picking it up but don’t want to carry it so they leave it somewhere to collect on the way back and then forget. That’s my theory anyway.

Never go to see the sculpture "The Dream", then, near St Helens. There are hanging dog poo bags in every second tree. I'm not quite sure it's what Jaume Plensa had in mind when he was looking for a decent location.

Skanky people......

I have always thought that people read the bit I read on the biodegradable poo bag pack (some years ago now but hopefully it is still on the pack), stating that the bag and contents degrade in six weeks in strong sunlight. I think people take that as an excuse to hang it up somewhere to biodegrade, ha ha. Even if it is true, there is no chance that I will ever feel it is OK to leave the dog's poo bags anywhere but in the appropriate bin. I am so fed up with collecting 10s of filled poo bags at a time in our local large and beautiful forest and taking them home to chuck in my dustbin.

personally i don't see the point of hanging the proverbial crap apples it just infuriates people to hate dog walkers. If your not going to put it in the bin why bag it. I only saw crap apples during lockdown. They were hung in the woods disgusting considering the damage plastic can do to wildlife.

I fear you're giving these people the benefit of the doubt when they don't deserve it.

I'm far more of the opinion that they hang the bags on trees and dump them on the ground because they're basically lazy, disgusting people who don't give a damn about other people or the environment.

It is disgusting.
Fairly recently I decided to take a walk through some woods I have never walked through before. I could not wait to get out as hanging off nearly every tree I had to pass closely were dog poo bags. Never will I go there again.
