What's too much exercise for an adult lab? I know someone whose lab does 5km x 6 times a week.

to add these as runs, not walks. Walks are additional.

That sounds like a really healthy amount of exercise to me, for both the owner and the dog, assuming the obvious things like the dog is not very young or very old, and isn't made to run in very hot weather.

The additional walks presumably give the dog a chance to explore and sniff as that's really important too and they can't sniff as much if they're running alongside you.

That sounds fine to me - a healthy lab should be capable of plenty of exercise and 5km really isn't particularly far. I imagine it only takes 20-30 minutes or so to run.

My beagle gets about 5km a day walking as well as the odd run at weekends. He can easily go for longer.

Why do you think it's too much?

Dogs get fitter with more exercise just like us humans so if they have built up to certain amounts of exercise then they are perfectly happy at doing that kind of exercise.

I've never had a dog as an adult and this dog was walking a bit funny so I just wondered. It's not old - 7 or 8 I think. Very nice dog, super with the kids.
Thanks for answering!
