Two dogs, scratchy little claws, can anyone advise on best flooring that won't get damaged. Thank you.

We've got 2 large dogs and had all downstairs carpets removed and Amtico flooring installed 10 years ago. Its really easy to clean and has stood up well to all kinds of spillages and abuse.
If you get down on hands and knees and peer closely there are some minor scratches but they don't spoil the look at all as it's "distressed oak" so lots of random marks and colour graduations anyway.

We just got quite cheap click in wooden floorboard. We wanted it to develop 'patina' over time and a dog has helped this, it looks lived in now.

Thank you both, I will look into both those options.

We had amtico click put down in our kitchen last year. Looks very smart, doesn’t scratch or mark.... but.... I’ve recently put a load of rugs down as my dogs have trouble walking on it and were sliding all over the place!! One of my dogs is 2, the other is 1. They’ve been a lot happier since I put the rugs down. Confused

Karndean here ..and I love it! Looks like wood (engineered but better than laminate which we had before) copes with everything spilled on it and our quite large dog hasn't managed to scratch it . I do have a few minor scratches from where I have dragged a very heavy object but only I'd know where!

I was worried about this before we had the floors done as my very cautious labrador would refuse to walk on anything likely to be slippery. Dog was allowed to do "test walks" in the Amtico showroom and he was fine with the wood effect floors with a textured surface.

We also have Amtico (I think Karndean is v similar) and it still looks great ten years on.

Thank you for your replies, my two do slide around on the hallway when they are excited for a walk so that is a worry but I was thinking of big rugs as well. Does rugs/furniture slide around on hard flooring?

I use DIY Doctor, double sided, premium grip tape with my rugs. It’s fantastic Smile

We have Karndean - dogs don't slip on it and haven't damaged it in any way.
