Butternut Box - dog food - do you?

MiniChoc · 30/04/2020 19:34

Does anyone use Butternut boxes to feed their dogs? They look good on their website but I'd like real life reviews please as they're not the cheapest. However they've got 94% on 'allaboutdogfood'.

Any advice appreciated! It will be for our new puppy who is currently being fed raw by the breeder, but raw isn't for us.

Thanks :)

I’ve used them a few times (usually when they send me a half price code)
My dog loves them and they do look really good, they’re just very expensive compared to other dog foods

They let me down with my first delivery and virtually doubled my dogs poo quantity.

When I did eventually get it and feed it.

We use it - we find jt very good and our dogs love it. They have allergies and quite delicate digestions and it’s been great for them.

First thing in years of trying that I found a food that dog would eat each and every time.
Customer service great too! Change the number of weeks they send me based on how much other stuff is in the freezer, delivered to my dog sitter when I’d not taken enough.
PM me for a code if you fancy.

It’s been so good for our dog for her first year and she’s so bouncy and shiny

Not sure I could cope with double the poo! Mixed results so far... any other opinions?

They're very good; DDog loves it, though finances (and freezer space!) are a bit tight at the moment so he isn't getting it right now.

I used to use it for my elderly dog who absolutely loved it and kept her going longer than I thought we might have with her otherwise.
But it works out a bit too expensive for all my gang on a daily basis n

Yes we’ve used it for a long time, both dogs love it, wish they did cat food.

Mine’s been on it since a pup. He loves it and I like that I know what is in his food.

Poos are nice and firm too!

Our poi’s are only slightly bigger, but mainly because he eats more now... but they don’t have that awful tinned dog food pop smell!

Ok I'm more relieved on the poo now!

Been using it for our 12 yr old border terrier for about 6months. He no longer has hideously smelly trumps! He’s stopped being itchy and red too. It’s expensive but other foods were making him so sore and smelly, I’d rather pay the extra to keep him happy and healthy. He even gets excited when the box arrives Grin

Love it. Poos are better. No farting. It’s really good quality food.

We looked at it but it's really expensive for what it is.

We feed Harringtons grain-free food - a mixture of wet and dry. He has firm poops and no issues. It's cheap and easily accessible too. We live rurally and I wouldn't want to feed a food that was reliant on online delivery, as in the winter months we often end up quite badly cut off.

Something I can get from the local shop is a must for us!

We use it and it's worked well - he mostly eats it (and is fairly picky) and the poos are very firm and regular (I love the TMI that comes with being a dog owner). It's very easy to order, postpone, change etc. Doesn't take up huge amounts of room.

I'd experiment with quantities though. The portions were initially too large.

Our dog is small and I don't think it works out too much more expensive, especially since there's little waste. But then everything is good value in comparison to my coffee habit.

@PatienceVirtue - yes I found the portion sizes a bit too generous. My 10kg dog was put on 600g a day. We've cut it to 500g and that is about right. He eats it all and maintains his weight.

I've just ordered the new fish recipe in the next delivery. Hope he likes it

MiniChoc · 03/05/2020 12:46

@patiencevirtue I do that too! Work things out cost per day based on my £3 coffee habit!

I'm ALL about wanting to know about the poop. I want people to tell me poos are nice and firm!

Very good quality and my dog absolutely loved it. Just too expensive for my large breed dog. Freezer space was an issue for us too, plus my dog really liked it warmed up a bit too (bag placed in warm water).

Report
Delatron · 03/05/2020 13:57

😂 I also justify the cost by comparing it to my coffee habit. If I can spend £3 per day on my coffee habit then I can spend similar on the dog having some good quality food. The meat is good quality.

I have often been heard commenting on his poo in public! Oh what a lovely firm poo that is, perfect texture!
