From bed sharing to kitchen

I've recently moved to lodge with some friends after living alone for a whileand need to get my 2yr old lurcher to move from sleeping with me in my bed upstairs to sleeping in the kitchen on her own. Any tips on doing this for an older dog and not a small puppy? She has a basket in the kitchen already and I'm trying to build up the time she's spending there. I'm anxious that I'm going to disturb my friends during the transition if she starts crying/whimpering etc. Help!

Following... DDog came into my life at a point where I was newly single and is thoroughly accustomed to sleeping under the duvet. I hope not to be single for the next decade though!
