Tough, escape proof harness for pointer

Pestypup had a Ruffwear Front range harness, so great we got the next size up when she grew.
However, the new improved model has lasted 10 weeks before the webbing holding the lead attachment ring has ripped through. Not impressed.
She is sleek shouldered, strong resemblance to a lurcher. She is also an adolescent delinquent who is obsessed with chasing birds.
Need recommendations for a strong and escape proof harness.

You would get a lot of pointer-specific advice somewhere like the German Shorthaired Pointer UK page on FB.

Or alternatively, get a slip lead, a clicker and a pocketful of treats.

Grumpy I have a martingale, clicker and pocket full of sprats Blush works well on roads, paths and the sports field but need a harness for yomping across the plain.
She is getting there with training, just rather slowly Hmm

Ruffwear webmaster - it's been brilliant for our nervy greyhound.
It's a bit fiddly, & not cheap, but does the job brilliantly

We have Indi dog Houdini’s but I know that they are not doing any made to measure new orders and I’m not sure what they have in ready made . I will say they wear well , wash beautifully and last ages , we’ve had one of ours for 4/5 years and it still looks as good as new .

I use perfect fit for my labs. Chest and back rings, padded, easy to fit. 4 year old pulling bitch (in every sense) has not managed to wreck hers yet. Older male is too lazy to bother...

Did you contact Ruffwear about the fault? Generally there stuff is well made, they've used the float coats & webmasters at our hydrotherapy centre which are still going strong 5yrs on with daily abuse.

I also have the webmaster, they do another version flagline that has clips on both sides though my dog is fine with stepping in. There's also some cheaper copies about.

My friend uses Perfect fit, the individual sections mean it does then suit a better range of shapes.

I've not bought from here but noticed while looking for a head collar they make harnesses with extra girth strap so are escape proof www.facebook.com/Poshpods/

Thanks for all the input

Ruffwear have proved difficult to get in touch with this week, I'll try again next week. I'm disappointed because the first Ruffwear harness was brilliant.

I'll order her a perfect fit harness on Monday.

Don't think she will get on with a head harness, but will bear it in mind for the future.

She is going to have to suck it up and behave on her martingale ( tis very posh and not really suitable for leaping into streams).

Perfect Fit harness... I cannot imagine it being able to rip, and they come in three sections for your dogs dimensions so they really are a great fit. We switched to Perfect Fit from a Ruffwear and I wouldn't go back. She cannpt escape it, and it's comfy!

Perfect fit harness here. Ring dog games with your measurements and they’ll sort out the size.
( my cavalier King Charles puppy has a tiny neck and a big rib cage)

Perfect fit. My spaniels have not managed to destroy them nor have we had any sore spots where the harness has rubbed. My spaniels pull like trains when they know they are going to the beach. One spaniel is built like a staffy and the other one is slim. perfect fit were able to fit them to both perfectly.

Finally managed to get in touch with Ruffwear.
Their online guarantee form does not work Angry When I finally got through, they were great, replacement harness sent really quickly Smile

Perfect Fit. Never yet had a dog escape from one, including several hard to fit setter x pups and wiggly spaniel types.
