Skinny rescue help

I've got a thread in chat about butternut box because I wanted advice on food but actually I'm just really concerned about her weight

I've got a very scrawny rescue border terrier who is 18 months old and 3.6 kg so very underweight. She's a failed foster in that we've adopted her ! She's been here 24 hours and oh my god I'm in love. I need to get her off the bakers she's been on since god knows when as her behaviour is appalling on it, I think it's full of shit frankly. Our other dog is raw fed but she's got no interest in it at all. Doesn't have a clue what to do.

I know she's been through a lot and needs love but I need to think about this long term, I know that she might not be eating because she's stressed, she's decided that DHs chest is the safest place to sleep, and I gave her some cold raw, warmed up? (Cooked)? Raw.. frozen entire fish and then finally the bakers that came with her out of desperation. She needs to eat and ate that. But not any more.

Please help ! Our last rescue ate anything and everything!!

If you have only had her 24 hours and she has already eaten something then you are doing well , it was nearly 3 days before my rescue would eat anything at all .
For now I would keep her on whatever food she will eat you can which ever food you want bit by bit in a week or two,
If you are going to feed her RAW , I would cook it first the transition between cooked tinned food and raw meat may be to much for her all at once. when she has got use to the RAW you can cook it a bit less each time until she is ok eating it uncooked

Bakers is really really bad food because it's full of awful additives and colours. You need something really smelly food wise to win her over.

I used to foster dogs, you can feed boiled rice with a raw egg in it (that usually works) or scramble the eggs. Things like tripe and fish - one of my dog's favourite things is pilchards in tomato sauce with some booked rice and a bit of veg. I use tails.com for for dry food and it's really good, and they also do good wet food, but I just supplement his dry food with pilchards and some occasional offal.

Give her some time. I find wet food warmed up usually tempts most dogs into eating.

Re butternut, I have just tried it for a month or so with mine. I'm not impressed, actually. They were on raw before but historically have had dry and wet too. The poos are big with butternut. Admittedly you can get deals for referring people but I am just not that impressed. I'd rather carry on raw feeding and see less waste coming out the other end. Also, the wainwright's wet we have in had a higher meat content, but price wise it's so much more reasonable...

I'd get her a decent dry food when you can, and mix tuna or chicken in with it, but for now I'd let her have the bakers till she's settled in.
