How to fatten up underweight puppy with digestive issues!

We got our Portuguese Water Dog puppy about 7 weeks ago. She’s 6 months old this week. She had loose stools from the very first day. She’s had blood tests and stool tests, and the only thing that comes up is Giardia in the antigen test. She’s been treated for this.

She seems unable to cope with any dog food besides chappie. She came on Royal Canin. We have tried introducing VERY slowly:
A few James Wellbeloved kibbles = Diarrhea
Home cooked white fish and sweet potato= Diarrhea
Burns puppy food= Diarrhea
Arden Grange sensitive = Diarrhea
A few high- end kibbles at the groomer = Diarrhea
Raw= Great for first week then Diarrhea

When I say we introduce gradually, I literally mean one teeny little kibble the first day as a treat, etc.
She’s so much better on Chappie. However, she’s underweight. She’s only 12 kilos when she should be at least 15. We are giving her 2 tins of Chappie a day.

I’m thinking of trying Barking Heads, but it’s probably just another dog food that she can’t tolerate.
Is there anything nutritious that I can add to the Chappie to help her to gain weight?

Have you tried Hills Biome? It's a new GI food and is really good. We have started to use it at work and I use it on my own dog. It's amazing stuff.

My vet advised a baked potato every other day. It genuinely worked wonders!

@Veronicat
I can only find that in adult, do you think she can have it at 6 months old?

@YummyBelicious
Can try that!

@ArtisanBreadBin

Will try that, thanks!

Feed her more chappie. Increase the amount but split it between 3-4 feeds rather than 1 or 2.

We're in barking heads. Only food My pup will tolerate other than forthglade and Lily's kitchen (wet versions) but also try different types of treats etc see if they agree especially like chicken etc

Giardia
a) can be really hard to get on top of. I usually give 2-3 rounds of treatment
b) is zoonotic so you can catch it. Be really careful with hand hygiene.
Good luck, with time she should come right, I really wouldn't chop and change foods too much at this point.

At six months it should be fine. He also has a nutrimed capsule and a yudigest sachet mixed in. It's been a game changer for sure!

Def just feed more Chappie over 5 meals. The important thing is that food gets absorbed and her system gets to settle down, so just feed more of what suits them for now

Could you maybe add a fish oil? As well as help with coat etc it will add calories. Yumega do a range from Amazon that my dog likes. Also if your having fish give the dogs the skins.
