My dog just died

My westie 13 and a half just died without warning. I came in from shopping and he was pleased to see me tail wagging jumping up. He then went in the garden. Came in and his legs collapsed I went to get him up and my sister said he is foaming at the mouth. His head lifted but he didn’t get up his breathing was shallow. The vets were busy - my sister said he has gone. I listened to his chest he was dead. Since I bought him home at 12 weeks he has slept on my bed. He had been with me when I lived alone. My sisters husband just came home and we’ve buried him in the garden. Had no time to say goodbye... so sad

So sorry to hear this, you will miss him. Be thankful that he didn't suffer long and you didn't have to make that painful last visit to the vet. Flowers

Oh sweetheart. I'm so very very sorry. What a horrible shocking thing to happen at the worst time. Sad

If I could reach through the screen to give you a hug, I would.

Oh god how heartbreaking.

Is it any consultation to think that he didn't suffer - at an age where a lot of doggies can suffer terribly with ill health?

He was adorable.

As lives and deaths go, his sounds perfect. Please console yourself that he was healthy to the end and didn't suffer

Adding my deepest sympathies, I lost my boy in 2017 and the pain was unbearable. I can tell you it gets better and I can now look at photos of him and smile. You gave him a great life and he didn't suffer a long drawn out painful process. He'll live in your heart forever 💐

He was my life really I don’t have a partner. He slept on my bed every night. He couldn’t do the stairs anymore I’d say come on buddy bed he would put his feet on the step and wait for me to carry him up

Oh goodness of course you feel sad. This has only just happened. Remember too you have had a horrible shock. Welling up and crying are natural responses. Please take comfort from the fact your little dog loved you and you made him so happy. Hopefully in time you can think about those happy memories.

I know how you feel, my cocker spaniel was my every shadow too. My every day was completely dominated by her

She passed away 3 weeks ago today. Still haven't moved her bed or anything. I have a quiet weep every day for her, I miss her so.
Big hugs x
