Definitely see vet - my beagle had emergency surgery for suspected blockage last year. He had nothing blocking, but was very unwell. A blockage can be very dangerous.

My dog did this. Vet advised to watch for any signs of discomfort or distress. It came out naturally three days later, was not pleasant!

It can cause problems though if it doesn’t go straight through as others have mentioned.

My dog underwent emergency surgery to remove a blockage. We were fortunate that it was caught early as we hadn't realised he had eaten anything to cause a blockage and his bowel wasn't too damaged so he made a full recovery.

My puppy is trying her hardest to eat the whole garden. (including the trampoline)
She stole my hat from the work surface yesterday and I had to grab her. I work on the assumption that if they can reach it then they will eat it.

My vizsla must've been around the same age when he did exactly that! Stared at me with it in his mouth, 1 big gulp and gone. I was horrified 😂
Told to keep an eye for it passing and to look out for any signs of discomfort. 2 weeks passed, I thought hmm maybe I've missed it, seemed absolutely his normal crazy self. Then one morning came down to a soggy dog that had been dyed a lovely green/brown in his bed! Must've just been sat in his stomach all that time before he vomited it back up 🤮😂

She doesn't really chew them, just swallows them whole, which is but I wonder if it's actually better as they're all in one piece and just seem to go straight through.

Sometimes she just ignores them and sometimes she tries to eat every stick she sees!! So frustrating and hard to prevent

TinglyPup once stole a muffin out of a broken package in the shopping. I knew because of the way he darted to the far end of the garden and desperately started to gulp before I got to him.

He's lucky I did because the whole muffin jammed at the back of his throat and required my primate fingers to prise it back out again so he could breathe!

I had a labrador who was a complete devil for eating stupid stuff when he was a youngster. He caused himself an intestinal blockage when he was two years old and had to spend two nights in the vet's hospital wing while they x-rayed him, observed and gave fluids and then had to operate to get things moving again. He had munched a mix of a load of gravel, sticks and crab apples which had all come together to make an impaction that just wasn't moving on it's own. He had also caused himself severe gastroenteritis with that lot, so had to take blockbuster antibiotics for a week or so after the surgery.

He wasn't a dog who believed in doing anything by halves. If a job was worth doing ..... !

My 7 month Vizsla did this a few weeks back , went and got the injection and it came back up. 3 days later she ate a bloody swim hat had the shame of going back for another injection. She'll literally eat anything she can get hold off. Current faves on walks are cigarettes and chewing gum. Seriously considering a muzzle

Windyatthebeach, my labrador also had a penchant for flip flops. He devoured a bright pink one once, at lightning speed!!

I was worried that it might cause a blockage too, but it didn't. It came out of the other end just as pink as it had gone in previously. Fluorescent pink poo was easy to find when on poo patrol out in the back garden.
