The doghouse

We’re going on a 2 week holiday in April and I’m so worried about leaving pup, he’ll be ok won’t he?

He’ll be 8 months old by then. He’s really doing so well, he’s lovely and settled. This is a holiday of a lifetime that was booked 18 months ago but I’m finding myself not wanting to go (which is absolutely not an option!)

Will he be ok? I’m worried he’ll think we’ve abandoned him or we’ll come back and he’ll have forgotten all his training or he’ll develop separation anxiety.

He’s going back to the breeder for the 2 weeks (they’re not actually breeders but their farm dog had an unexpected litter) so he’ll be spending the fortnight on the farm with his mum and brother.

Is there anything I should do to prepare him. We’ll be going for a few visits in the next month or so and he’s been back a couple of times since we got him at 10 weeks old.

As he is going back to somewhere he knows ( if he remembers it ) I think he will be fine , can you get the farm owner to give to a piece of clothing or cloth with there scent on it a week or so before you are due to take him there ?
Then when you do take him take the item back with you plus some that smells of you / your family.
I would also let him take a toy and his regular food .

I am sure he will have a great time chasing rabbits and squirrels and playing with his family .
