Plans for a stormy day

What's everyone's plans for today in the uk?. No way will we venture out in the storm outside, far too dangerous with all the trees.

We plan ball playing inside and hiding carrot pieces around the house. BiteyDog looked disgusted at the weather outside and did the quickest pee and poo this morning Grin

I was just thinking the same thing. This will be the first day since we had him that we’ve not been out. We’ll do the same as you. Hopefully it’ll be nice enough for a walk before bedtime.

We have nipped out for walk as he won't go in garden at all but footpath walks only avoiding our normal forest walks .or local woods .

Mines never bothered about weather but is a lab with very thick coat

Otherwise be quick blocks later and ball indoors

I'm trying to think of a short walk which doesn't pass trees or slate rooves... It's not going well! Definitely going to be an enrichment meal sort of day.

It's awful outside. The rain is coming in sideways and the poor birds are trying to cling onto the bird feeders.

I am just glad we had a couple of trees felled in the garden last year that used to drop massive branches when it was stormy.

We've just come back from out walk -it was invigorating Smile. We avoided the woods and walked in open spaces (as much as possible). Noone about so had a great time. It certainly is windy

Dogs now crashed for a bit

I'll take them out when it stops raining - it's not at the moment but I'm still in bed (they've been out back already). One of my dogs has alopecia so not alot of hair and will just about tolerate a coat but is not that happy, my other has poodle like fur so hardly notices it's raining! I am tempted just to stay in by the fire though. Ferry was cancelled so my daughter and her friends have delayed their birthday party trip to the mainland and my poor son has to go to work on his moped, hope he doesn't get blown over!

DH and dog went out this morning - only for a short walk though, but at least he went out!

I stayed in bed Grin

Will be going to an open area to walk pup today. Dpup really loves the wind! He has been running about like a loon this morning chasing leaves. 😄

Ohffs66 · 09/02/2020 10:05

Ddog will be genuinely delighted there is no walk today 😂. DH and I are rarely in the house together for a full day but today we are and she's so happy about it. She'll mostly be snug on the sofa with the odd trip into the garden for a wee. I'll probably do some scentwork with her later, or work on our latest trick which is putting toys back in the basket.

We've been for a walk but only close by so no driving.

Braddog didn't seem to mind - except when he stood for a shake and the wind blew him sideways by about a foot Grin

Back home now safe and sound.

On days like today I'm very glad I have lurchers who don't need any entertainment if staying in all day! Ddog1 is tucked up under ds's duvet in bed, and ddog2 is upside down snoring on a sofa. I don't expect much change to this Grin

My DH is preparing to brave the storm with our girl, she is currently snoring next to me on the bed. It will be a quick whizz round the block. We will play hide the toy later, she loves that game.

Preempted with an exceptionally long woodland walk yesterday so she's knackered today. Went out very early this morning for a road walk while it was barely raining and a bit blowy. Glad we did as it's now howling with horizontal rain.

Will probably sent up a sniff trail around the house later with some Adventuros and get the snuffle mat and licky mat out if she starts climbing the walls.

Ours went reluctantly into the garden to have a wee (DH had to physically eject one from the house as he is a rain refuser). They are now back in their beds snoring.

We’ll do a little training later on maybe if they decide to get up.

We chose what we thought was a dry moment...it wasn’t! Ddog, not remotely bothered by the driving rain, had a good run and sniff around on the beach. Showers all round when we got home and I still have sand in my eyelashes!!
At least she’s tired now Smile

Our garden is very sheltered so doesn't seem particularly affected by the wind, although it's whipping around the house at the front.

Dog is asleep at the moment. She went out for a wee this morning but I unless something drastically changes we won't be going for a walk today

She's only small, I can see her getting blown away Grin

Although she does love the wind - not so keen on the rain - this wind is probably too much even for her.

Ddog is a bit of an adventure dog so we've been out twice already - though this last time we had to run back to avoid getting too wet Grin

We had a very short walk early then when dog got bored I gave him a bone. Then we played for half an hour then, as usual, he settled for his afternoon nap. It’s stopped raining now but he’s fast asleep.
More rain forecast later. He won’t poo in the garden so we’ll have to go out in the rain after tea.

We have lost some new (not rotten) fence panels. Think it's getting worse here for the wind Sad

I gave in to my spaniels sad eyes a few hours ago and got caught in the hailstones. Dog2 isn’t hardy enough so stayed in.

So far we have lost one tree and three fence panels.

I am busy threading dried sprats on a length of string. Took her ages the first time, rather swiftly consumed the second time.

Did do a long day out yesterday and she is quite tired.

Dogs had exercise this morning with DH and this afternoon I took the young one out - avoided the trees as much as possible and then on open ground did a bit of retrieve work (the wind a distraction) and then some off-lead heel. It was a bit boring and limited but it worked her brain which is the main thing with her.

Ddog when I opened the back door in the morning for his wee, just gave ne a wtf look and it took 3 times of me opening the door for him to be brave and venture out. But no way was he not having his walk so we just went in the gap in the rain. He was filthy and I couldn't wait to get back inside, but no way can ge go a say without a walk, its what he lives for!

My dog did a wee yesterday morning and then I had to force her out into the garden for a wee before bed.

She slept a good part of the day as well. It was almost as if she was avoiding the idea of going out.

Today was lovely here. The sun has been shining, it's warmer and the wind has dropped considerably, with just intermittent strong gusts. Although it's picked up a bit this evening.

Apparently we're due for some more stormy weather soon.
