Yesterday we said goodbye to our beautiful little Yorkie Molly. She’s been fighting diabetes for over a year, had gone completely blind, legs started to go and was losing interest in alot of things. Recently she got poorly and originally we just thought she’d eaten something. After a day or so of her vomiting we took her to vets to be told she had ketoacidosis. Whilst initially the vets managed to get her diabetes back under control it then started to sky rocket again. Further investigation also showed she had pancreatitis and Cushings disease so after much pained discussion we made the decision to let her go. We were with her and it was very peaceful. But I can’t help wondering what if though and feel so guilty about not continuing the treatment. I also miss her so much, it hurts. I know everyone thinks this about their dog but she was so special and loyal and loving and the house feels wrong without her. I don’t really know why I’m posting but somehow it helps writing it all down. Give your pets an extra cuddle tonight x

@Kirigiri

You definitely made the right decision for her. She's at peace now and no longer uncomfortable
Think of all the good memories you have with her
Thanks

Thank you...it’s just so hard. I’m so full of what ifs and guilt and sadness. Part of me never wants a dog again and part of me wants to run out and get a new one, not to replace but to fill the void. God the impact they have

It's hard. Our old cat is 18. He's very skinny, just a handful of bones. He walks up and down yowling, bumping into things, seems to have gone blind and has a kidney tumour. We just put it off, but what's best for him?

@Singlenotsingle it’s so difficult I understand completely. You don’t want to say goodbye but then you worry that you’re only keeping them going for you. Flowers it’s so tough but as long as he is still finding some enjoyment in life and isn’t in pain then thats all that matters. He’s your cat, you’ll know him better than anyone xx

Flowers

The bloody grief when they go is so painful and years afterwards I still miss all of mine that have gone.

But the joy they bring is so great that it balances out.

Take it easy, OP. xx

The price it costs to love is always worth it - even though your heart is breaking.

My girl is long gone and I still cry over her but the joy and love she made me feel when she shared my life far surpasses the immense pain of her loss and my forever broken heart.

Thinking of you. And of Molly Flowers
