On the vets for pets website they had a section, where you put in your postcode and they tell you how many cases nearby and where.

Our dog was tested for this recently - he had sickness and skin lesions! Luckily they were two separate things and after antibiotics he's fine now.
The vet did say it's very rare but worth a blood test for peace of mind.

I would be far more concerned about canine prolific vomiting which currently has thousands of cases across the UK, it is being successfully treated by local vets. But much, much more likely to affect your dog. If your dig vomits more than 3 times it really should see a vet.

I live in a 'high' incident area but if you take the actual numbers into account it's still extremely small risk.

I think they key thing is that if you can't account for any changes or injuries on your dog it's worth a vet visit which I would do anyway but I also know lots of people sit on symptoms for a very long time so I think it's helps to highlight this.

The sickness bug is rife where we live. Our dog was sick all yesterday morning, not since but he’s slept for most of 30 hours and eaten nothing. Vet tomorrow. Most dogs seem to be better in a day but some are very ill.

@Floralnomad we don't know the agent has been identified as it was only named and formally recognised this week. We think it can be carried on clothing and vets and nurses are being told to bear this in mind.
In my small practice we have seen 80 cases in the month of January. The cases are widespread across the U.K.
