Can anyone recommend a dry dog food - problems with diarrhea

I have a fussy springer spaniel who also has a bit of a delicate tummy. We have to be quite careful with treats and stuff like that and in the past when on dry food she’s had diarrhea.

She had been on Butternut Box which she loved to start with but a few months ago she started refusing point blank to eat it

Tried her with raw food - refused to eat it

Tried various wet food - won’t eat it

We’ve gone back to dry food - she loves it but we’re back to having some diarrhea with it. She’s currently on AVA - as so far it’s the least diarrhea-y

She’s been checked over by the vet and she’s fit and healthy

Our working cocker is on Millie's Wolfheart. You can only buy it online (I think) and it's not cheap, but delivery is fast. It's also rated highly on www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk/

He was very picky with other dry food but seems to really like this. We add a bit of the tinned food in to make it more interesting, or feed it to him on a snuffle mat, and he's always just wolfed it down. We're on our third delivery now, and people often comment on lovely his coat is. We very rarely have poo problems, unless he's snaffled something he shouldn't!

Ours is raw fed but when we were using dry food the best for firm poops seemed to be tails.com.

My friend's dog gets very loose stools when he has anything containing chicken (dry or wet) so it might be worth looking at that.

If you can encourage raw feeding it really helps with the firmness (and they go white like in the olden days due to the bone content plus far less wind is passed).

I have a collie who wasn't putting on weight and had an upset tummy all
the time.
She is now eating James Wellbelloved grain free dry food and also shes fine on butchers wet food too.
I was most surprised and pleased that she has thrived so well on these!
Literally like a different dog to look at - she looked malnourished before bless her.

My dog basically has ibs and we use Arden grange sensitive. Still has the occasional flare up but she loves it.

I have a different breed, Skye’s, but if you read the reviews on Amazon you’ll find many with spaniels who swear by it too. My Skyes we’re finally able to grow their show coats & no more tummy problems. Added bonus, no VAT so cheaper than a lot as it’s made for working dogs. You can buy it at most pet suppliers.

I despaired at the state of my dog's poo - it was like trying to pick up soup I tried him on all sorts (Royal Canin, Wolf of Wilderness, Purizon, pre-biotics prescribed by vet) until I tried him on James Wellbeloved Grain Free and his foul guts cleared up almost overnight. I think perhaps the others might have been too rich for him.

We have a similar problem, the vet recommend giving our dog carrots and broccoli to help get more fiber in him and firm up his poop a bit ...he loves the carrots, and they help keep his teeth clean:) We are trying the dry food our vet sells but he's not so keen! Dogs can be so fussy😂

Also, I use a topper (like condiments for dogs ) if he looks like he's getting bored of his food because I daren't switch his brand after finding one that suits him.

She had Butterbox which she loved for about two weeks, which seemed to be about how long she would enjoy a new food but she's had the K9 healthy naturals for a couple of years.

I have a dog with a sensitive tummy and diarrhoea and we have started him on Hills I/d Biome. It's amazing. Solid poos!

Try finding a food with a more novel form of protein. Our lurcher had chronic digestive issues since we rescued him ( probably the main reason he was dumped!)
Took us ages to find out that even chicken and rice upset him, the only food he can tolerate is wainwright’s salmon and potato (not the best brand by a long way but literally the only food that doesn’t cause him to have explosive diarrhoea!!!) even other makes of salmon and potato food upset him. Take your time when trying new foods introduce them into their diets slowly ,only one add one new thing at a time and when your trying a new food do not give any titbits or other treats so it gets a proper trial. You can get prescription hypo allergenic diets from your vet if you need to get your dog into an even keel before trialing a new food, they are expensive but there is no point introducing a new diet to a stomach that is already upset. I've used Fish for dogs ( only bought on line ) for about ten years. My dogs have not once had upset digestive systems and their stools are always normal. I think a 12kg bag costs around £55 and is brilliant value. Can't rate it enough and think they may send you a sample if you contact them

We had same issue with our dog, we found wheat and grain free diet works best so he's on the Wainwright's one from Pets at Home.

We also keep this probiotic in and if he does get an upset tummy a scoop on his food for a day or so settles things down.

My dog suffers from pancreatitis so has to have a carefully managed diet low in fat to prevent diarrhoea. She has Royal Canin Vet Diet Gastro. I also buy plain white boneless frozen fish and microwave a couple of pieces to go on to of the dried food to give some variety.

My flat coat had a dodgy tummy - we found Simpson’s salmon and potato did the trick (Amazon) and Harrington’s salmon and potato worked too (much cheaper). Agree it turned out grains (amongst many other things) set our dog’s tummy off

It's a novel protein (venison), grain-free, high protein food - good for mine who have skin allergies from foods & one has inflammatory bowel.

All get good nutritional ratings and all poops are solid and easy to pick up, no gas ever etc

Tried canin after lots of recommendations and it was on offer - absolute disaster.
Then I checked and the nutritional content is terrible.
