Naturo wet food.....is this too good to be true?

I’ve got two elderly dogs with quite different nutritional needs. One ex racer greyhound, nearly 13, who has the quite typical elderly greyhound gastro issues, meaning I mostly have to cook fresh meat, veg and rice for. But, she could benefit from a high quality food added in occasionally, just to up the nutritional content. And a working type Lab, approx 13.5, long legged and big for breed, but still in danger of running to fat if not very careful. I’ve tried so many different wet and dry foods over the last couple of years (different type for each dog), using Allaboutdogfood.co.uk as a starting point, trying to get the best balance between, high quality, grain free, manageable price (last one, luckily not top priority, I’ll buy whatever is best for the dogs). Lab has been on Millie’s Wolfheart dry but has recently been diagnosed with laryngeal collapse, which can be managed, but means he has to come off dry food for wet. Most recently tried Nature’s Menu, Lily’s Kitchen, Millie’s. Greyhound can’t tolerate any of them for more than about a week before I have to put her back on chicken/veg/rice to equalise her (been throughly checked by vets btw, nothing wrong, just typical of ex racer gastro issues). And the Lab boy, loves everything but nothing has helped him loose any weight (exercise very restricted due to laryngeal issue). So today, I’m doing my usual Sainsbury’s online shop and notice they’re advertising Naturo. I hadn’t heard of them, but they get a decent score on AADF on their wet trays, they’re grain free, and, most surprisingly, they’re literally a third of the price of the other food I’ve been using recently. Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone used them, are they any good? Have I just found a sort of holy grail of dog food: good food, good price, semi eco friendly (in that it’s one delivery along with my shopping rather than another dog food delivery)? Or not?

My ex racers usually have dry food but I have used naturo both as treat meals to mix things up and in their kongs with no I'll effects.

My dog needs grain free and has colitis so I'm careful about what he eats. I've swapped to Naturo and all good so far!

We give it to our retriever, have done for a year or so now, and it really agrees with him, he looks great and no tummy problems. And he actually eats it fussy git The only thing is how many trays will you need (cost wise i think we would be about £3/day if we used only trays) so we just use it half and half with Harrington's dry as that's what works for us.

Wow, all good so far. I just can’t believe the price is so good. Maybe it’s just an introductory offer (haven’t seen it in my local Sainsbury’s before this week) though it doesn’t say it is. As I said, price not top priority, but otoh, I’m not going to look a gift horse etc 😂

Well unless I get a bad review, think I’ll give it a go. I can chop and change to no ill effect luckily, cos the Grey has to be on/off the home cooked food no matter what and the Lab has a cast iron stomach 😂

You have greyhounds which are prone to dilated cardiomyopathy so when choosing a food you need to be aware of the emerging link between grain free food and dilated cardiomyopathy.

My collie mix has an ultra sensitive digestive system, but Naturo has never caused any upset (except for the salmon variety which I avoid) either the "with rice" or grain free versions. I've been buying it for 5 years. It's always been the kibble that has caused the problem, even though he's only ever had "hypoallergenic". He can eat Naturo served on a bed of boiled rice all day long without any upset at all. For extra vitamins and protein he has chicken, vegetables and treats that are 100% animal products such as tripe chews. At £5.50 for a box of 6 400gm trays (from Tesco) it's a bargain. Tesco are also selling their own version of this now. It seems ok, but I'm loyal to Naturo as it's served us so well.

My dog loves Naturo - I mix it with dry food. No problems with her tummy and firm poo. I pay £5 for a box of 6 and £1 for a single tray at ASDA.

My ex racer didn’t really like the taste, but she can be very fussy. She likes butchers now and nothing else except cooked meat and fish with rice etc. I bought lots in bulk as she really liked the first six trays little sod!
