The doghouse

In work and pup’s home alone-I’m so anxious!

He’s 18 weeks old, I’ve been testing him for weeks and he’s absolutely fine (I’ve been building up the time and filming him while I’m out). Mil has been with him all day and is leaving him in 10 mins. I’ll be home at 4 so 2 hours in total. DH walked him before work and mil walked him when he woke from his morning kip. I’m so nervous though! He’ll be fine won’t he?!

Of course he will. You’ve trained and planned for it really sensibly. He’ll probably just sleep.

And if it turns out he’s found something to chew/toileted, then it’s something to learn from.

Sounds like you’ve planned brilliantly, I bet he’ll be fine Smile

Thanks both, it just feels so alien to be leaving him there alone! He’s in his pen with his bed, a loaded kong, a snuffle mat full of kibble and all his toys.

I’ve been happy to leave him in the morning as he sleeps for up to 4 hours! So I’ve been getting up to all sorts without him even knowing I’ve left 😆 in the afternoon I’ve been building the time up gradually but this is the longest. I don’t know why I’m so anxious about it. I think I’m scared of undoing all our hard work and he’ll start getting separation anxiety or something but we've got to start building him up to our real life schedule which will (eventually) be 10-12 and then 1-4 two days a week although he doesn’t ever really have to do that if he can’t manage it. Mil is always on standby.

And he had 3 wees and a poo on his lunchtime walk so he shouldn’t get stressed that he can’t get outside 🤞🏻

How was he, @Spotty528?

Good thanks (I think!) I wasn’t able to film him so I don’t know exactly what he got up to but he was quiet when I got in, no accidents, he’d obviously had all his toys out but his pen was in the same position so he hadn’t attempted an escape! He was so excited to see me, his whole weener popped out! I never thought I’d miss the excited little wees he used to do 😆

He’s doing 9-12 tomorrow but that’s when he naturally sleeps so I’m not too worried about that one.

That’s good news, sounds like it went really well. Grin @ his excitement.

He did great this morning, I filmed him and he slept except for the last 15 mins when he woke up, mooched his toys about, had a go on his kong and barked a couple of times.

We’ve had a lovely sniffy, off lead walk and he’s now sleeping on my lap. He hasn’t slept on me since before the kids broke up for Christmas and I can’t believe how big he’s got-he used to sleep in the crook of my arm but now he’s lying across my lap and there’s not much room in left on the chair.

Keep that pic op. Take one in ten weeks, then 20 etc.
Our huge husky has for some reason decided she is a chihuahua and keeps sleeping across me.
It isn't a pleasant experience...
