Is that OK? I'm worrying that it's too long.

She went to the loo at 10.30pm, straight into her bed (open crate in a stair gated area), straight to sleep, cried at 6.30am, out for a wee and no accidents in her area.

Is that OK for an 8.5 week old puppy? It's only her 2nd night with us. We're ready for rough nights so it seems a bit strange 🤔

Yes I would say that's ok.

However, don't be surprised if she wants to pee or poo overnight when a bit older when she is more settled and drinking/eating (wanting to play Wink) more.

Mine was the same... 7 months now and has never pooed in the house and had a total of 3 wees when she first came upstairs. She also slept through from day 1.
Doesn't sleep through now tho but potters about. Fingers crossed you have an easy pup!

Thank you! I'm glad it's normal. We were ready for awful nights and lots of crying /accidents. She's had 3 wee accidents so far so I'm over the moon!

Fingers crossed this continues 🤞🏻

This is pretty common puppy behaviour. Very common to put puppies to bed at 11.00pm and up at 6.00 -6.30am

Our pup did this. Slept alot in general. Tool her about a week to act like a proper puppy. Playing and running around.

It was after that week she started waking occassionally at night. But up, toilet and straight to back to bed. So its nor too bad.

I've raised four puppies. All were like this. Into the crate at bed time and slept through till the morning. I think many are tbh although my dsis used to get up every hour with her puppies Confused and many MNetters seem to as well. I have never found it to necessary and I really hope I never have to go this route.

Brilliant !
Mind has always slept well in his crate. Well apart from the past few evenings but I think Xmas has disrupted things as well as growing up

Lucky you.

Ours is the first dog we owned. We were also prepared for terrible nights. We got him at ten weeks and he slept through from the first night - similar times to yours. No messes any night of any kind. We were amazed!

He's one and a bit now and sleeps from 10.30ish till 8.30 if we aren't up earlier. Hardly sleeps in the day unless we are out but I'm happy with that. Decided it's owed to me as my 7 year old dd hasn't slept through for a single night since she was born.

Ours sleeps 9-10 hours straight through at night but an occasional once up in the night
At your puppies age she was sleeping the same but up once or twice most nights until 10 weeks.
Sounds great for you though! Enjoy the sleep.
Ours sleeps over night plus every 1-1.5 hours she has a 40min-1.5 hour nap
They’re growing so fast they need lots of sleep!
Good luck with the new pup..a photo would help us be sure she’s ok

Thanks all. I think I must have read all of the bad stories and never even thought she'd be this good!! Here's hoping it continues 😀

My dog just turned 3 and he still sleeps for around 14 hours a day, from around 10pm-7am overnight with about 5 hours worth of napping throughout the day, so yours is probably fine. He used to sleep for about 18 hours when we first got him at around 6 months so I wouldn't worry too much :)
