Our GBGV has been so well behaved lately (one year over Xmas), but on Xmas day a male (neutered) Huskey tried to attack her. I had her on a short lead and she was OK. There’s a lot of attempted cushion humping, much more sensitive to noise (normally couldn’t care less), less appetite and she vomited grassy foam y’day and today (but is eating and drinking). (A) what can I do to make her more comfortable and (b) how long does it generally last? Thanks

With my dog it used to last about 2 weeks. She was mad throughout and couldn't rest properly, very antsy most of the time. She was always trying to pursue hapless males sighted even half a mile away and whimpering to get at them. She had a complete personality change. It was better if I could get her to stay at home quietly for a bit. I did discover something called Bitch Spray (can buy online) that you spray their bottom with and seems to put off amorous males. However, in UK, not such a problem as so many dogs have had the snip. When we lived in Greece, we had a gang of amorous males outside the front door in all weathers awaiting her appearance.

Is she showing physical symptoms? Mine has come into season for the first time this week.. first we noticed she was cleaning herself constantly and when I had a good look, her vulva was swollen, and yesterday the first droplets of blood, tho she is fab at cleaning herself.

Kept her on lead today ..she was not interested in males (that'll be in about a week's time from what I have read) but one cockerpoo had to be firmly chased and removed by his (lovely) owner as he was VERY interested in my girl!
She seems a bit grumpy, very clingy, and following me everywhere and can't settle. I'm hoping the next few weeks pass quickly!!!
