The doghouse

How does your dog spend Christmas eve and Christmas day?

Mine is thrilled because I have lit the stove - we were both huddled under a blanket before I decided it was just too cold in here. We have had a long walk today. Tomorrow's will be a bit shorter as I have the lunch to prepare. Our dog will be joining in the fun and excitement of visitors making a fuss of her, her own stocking, a left over turkey tea and yet another long snooze in front of the fire (along with everyone else). How much does your dog join in at christmas?

Today is my birthday so me and Bella are snuggled under my blanket watching TV.
We are at my parents tomorrow and she is invited. A big walk before lunch and another after evening buffet Xmas Smile

As he does most other days in the school holidays. Follows me around hoping for food, bit of a nap, more following, start looking at me sadly hoping it’s bedtime around 8. Lots of tummy rubs and nice chewy treat from Santa.
He does enjoy unwrapping though and is always eager to help Grin

Part of the family as with every day! When we are away from home she comes with us, has her own bowl of Christmas dinner (not sprouts) and opens her presents, same as at home. She has a stocking this year too and gifts from our family Grin

No different to any other day here!

Had a walk and a chew this morning, and had spent most of the afternoon asleep or telling the cat off for climbing the Christmas tree 😂

Tomorrow we're taking him for a nice long walk and then he'll have his own Christmas lunch!

Christmas eve is a normal day for him really. Couple of nice walks, lots of enrichment at home.
Tomorrow he will have an hours walk in the morning at one of his favourite places and then be having christmas dinner like the rest of us later. It's the first year I haven't bought him presents (toys) but I have bought him a buffalo horn, a new antler, treats for his treat ball and other food dispensing toys and a pigs ear...(not for all at once!!!)

Extra walk at park today as we needed to tire the toddlebot out.

Will come with us to my parents tomorrow, have new toys and treats and will almost certainly get a bit of turkey

We had our Christmas at the weekend, the whole family and my son’s dog. My dog hates every dog in the world except this one. She follows him Everywhere and even lets him sniff her bum. I think she is in love

He sleeps on our bed xmas eve - as he does every night.
He gets his own stocking with some treats and a lottery ticket. He will give any winnings to me, his beloved one.
He also opens his present from his dog walker (a biscuit bone with his name on it that he won't eat because he is a picky eater)
All of us bring him for a walk in the woods in the afternoon - sadly getting shorter and shorter as he gets older.
He will get a rasher for breakfast and a slice of fillet of beef for his dinner.
He wears a bowtie for the occasion.

Mine spent christmas eve running madly on the Malvern hills in the wind which they love and both are passed out now. I'm hoping this will keep them calm tomorrow as BIL2 and SIL2 are bringing their dogs inc the new one who is an ex puppy farm breeding bitch and still nervous

Lovely walk on the beach with friend and friend's dog this morning followed by coming into the cafe with us which he loves because it has carpet on the floor. Had his usual treat of a blob of coffee foam. Long walk back along the beach. Spent rear if day snoozing or barking at the letter box in hopes of bullying it into producing a Christmas card for him to muller. Another walk in the 5pmgalf light through wet streets enjoying the Christmas Eve atmosphere around the neighbourhood

He’ll help with the unwrapping. Grin He’ll get a new bone to unwrap. He’ll have some turkey.

He had an operation yesterday though so isn’t quite his normal self yet Sad

Morning pretty normal - short walk at 7 , then long walk at 10. DH home early so we went to the park and chased a ball.
There were some spare chipolatas so the two dogs did a taste test ( all ok for tomorrow apparently 😁) , now stretched out on sofas in front of the fire.
More pressies for them than anyone else under the tree, so tomorrow will be fun. 😍🥰😍

Now he's an old fella, sleeping mostly.

He managed to eat a mince pie two weeks ago causing panic all round. Fortunately they were cheap mince pies with not much filling in so he was fine.

Mines just had some smoked salmon for his supper and is asleep in front of the TV . Tomorrow he will unwrap his presents from us , have a walk then we are all going to my dsis for dinner , where he has more presents to unwrap . He’s particularly tired today as ds spent a very rare night at home last night so he had to share his double bed .

With me! Cuddling on the sofa tonight. Walk first thing tomorrow then going to visit family. (They love him more than me, lol.) He might wear his new Harris Tweed bow tie if he is in the mood. Basically a relaxing, lovely time.

our current pup is excited for visitors...he smooched with dd yesterday when she arrived for a catch up and to collect post

ds and GF arrived today so he was very pleased to see them

probably more visitors on Boxing Day

there's a good deal of cat admiring to be done and quite a lot of lying in front of the fire

he likes to supervise in the kitchen too, and seemed genuinely impressed at the turkey as I donned the marigolds to fetch out the giblets, lots of looking, head tilting and ear pricking

Other than that he is really quite lazy.

DPooch is currently wedged between me and OH chilling on the sofa. Tomorrow morning we will take him for a walk, give him an hour on his own while we visit my mum to exchange gifts, come back to get dinner on then plate him up some turkey, potato, pigs in blankets topped off with gravy.

Another walk later on in the afternoon follow by another cutch on the sofa and a chewy before bed.

Ruby, as always, comes with me everywhere - she’s my hearing dog. She had a huge walk today with her brother Murphy and her sister Bale. All 3 are currently asleep in our bedroom waiting on Santa Paws to arrive. Stockings will be filled by morning for all 3.

Tomorrow they’ll open their stockings and we’ll all have have another long walk before lunch. ☺️

My Labrador will get stupidly excited once everyone starts the unwrapping tomorrow and he will probably have chewed his new toy to pieces before lunch is cooked. He will then be exhausted and sleep for the rest of the day. My greyhound, on the other hand, has a job to do as Santa’s Little Helper

Mostly sleeping. What she doesn’t know is that we are bringing a puppy home after Christmas. We’re both going to need all the sleep we can get. Shock

Mine will hide when we unwrap the presents (hates the noise and mess).

Then he will mug us for more turkey and demand ball play Grin

Mine must know it's Christmas as she let us sleep in til 5.40 😂 (Every other day this week it's been 4.30 😭). She will be mostly snuggled between us on the sofa watching films, opening her presents and eating. We don't eat meat so she has a special doggy Xmas dinner instead of turkey and I'll do her a couple of plain roasties and some parsnips and peas (she won't eat sprouts). More than anything she will be happy because we are both at home for a few days rather than one of us being at work.
