Dog in coffee shop

Hi, looking for opinions from dog owners. I was in a coffee shop the other day which is quite relaxed about people bringing in their dogs. I haven't got a problem with this as the majority of owners keep their dogs on leads and the dogs just sit or lay by their owners feet. However the other day I saw a dog cock his leg and pee on a stand selling coffee leaving a puddle on the floor. The owner saw this but made no mention to the staff, she didn't seem fussed at all. In addition to this she let her dog wonder about on one of those super long leads (it was a busy time of day). I thought her behaviour was really appalling and had no regard for anyone else. Just because you love your dog doesn't mean other people want a strange dog sniffing up to them when they're eating and drinking.

Absolutely awful behaviour. I’m a dog owner and I’d be mortified if my dog did that. He once cocked his leg over a stand outside a shop window that we had stopped by to look in. He didn’t do any damage to any stock but I did go in and tell the shopkeeper so they could at least hose it down. They said another dog had already peed there so I guess it left a scent. That was really bloody gross of the coffee shop lady though, I hope you said something to the staff.

I didn't feel comfortable approaching the owner but I noticed a member of staff had already been alerted and put a yellow cone down by the time I had reached the front of the queue. It was the attitude of the owner that got me really cross!

That’s disgusting. My dog is completely house trained and I’d like to say wouldn’t dream of doing that but he has weed inside pets at home before 😬 I’m assuming he smelt another dog’s wee but I immediately pulled him away, told a member of staff and cleaned it all up!

Dog owner here. Yes, that's appalling behaviour from that woman.

If I were the owner of that cafe that woman would be banned.

I've seen this in pet shops as well, dog pees on the floor and owner just walks on.

Unfortunately there's a lot of awful, disrespectful people around; some of them own dogs.

Personally I don't really like the idea of dogs in coffee shops per se. But then I'm a grumpy old bah humbug!

My dog wee’d in pets at home once (we were walking to the vets at the back of the shop as she was unwell). I went to the desk and asked for paper towels and mopped it up. The dog owner should at least have alerted staff and kept her dog close.

Dogs go everywhere in the county I live. To ban a dog is seen as outrageous behaviour!
